Kick off on Friday afternoon with a cheap film at the Tricycle Theatre Cinema in Kilburn, opened by Emma Thompson in 1998! Matinees on Fridays are only 3.50 pounds for students and 4 pounds for non-concessions. Often showing interesting foreign films but also the main blockbusters. A super comfy theatre!

Before or after you could browse the many inexpensive clothes and houseware shops that line the Kilburn High Road or in the market.
2. Sir John Soane's Museum
What's not to love about this place? Slightly off the beaten track...brilliant collection...enthusiastic curators... You won't be sorry you visited! p.s. it's free
One of my favourite places in London...and it's free! Come early in the morning to beat the crowds and avoid having to jostle in order to read the explanations. Admire the mosaic in the lobby floor. Also notice the huge black and white painting of London by John Virtue - you'll know which one I mean when you see it.
7. Victoria and Albert Museum
8. Royal National Theatre
The NT reserves seats for every performance to be sold at 10am on the day of the performance so you could still catch a play even if it's sold out on the website. For a sell-out play, come early in the morning to join the queue waiting for the doors to open. There are also student standby tickets from 45 minutes before the performances.
9. Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
5 pound standing tickets! Titus Andronicus has received stunning reviews from the broadsheet critics.
10. Prince Charles Cinema
More cheap cinema ticket! 1 pound ticket on Fridays - amazing value. The cinema isn't at all dirty or unpleasant, it's just cheap! The seats are comfy and the screen is a good size.

Also find nearby a dense concentration of inexpensive restaurants. Cafe Espana on Old Compton Street is good for tapas and bustling atmosphere but you might have to queue. Misato on Wardour Street serves massive portions of Japanese rice dishes.
11. tkts ticket booth Leicester Square
The Society of London Theatre's official discount ticket booth located in Leicester Square, London.

You can often get cheaper tickets without going through an agent however if you're a student or under a certain age or if you don't mind sitting in the front row - the best way to find these discounts seems to be to visit the theatre box office yourself or to try to ring the box office. Some of these cheap tickets aren't available until the day of the performance so just visit in the morning that you'd like to see the show and enquire.

The Old Vic near Waterloo Station has a good policy of offering 12 pound tickets to under-25s. These can be purchased in advance.
