One would be hard placed to think of any one artist to spawn so many museums and collections throughout the world. But the prolific Picasso, considered one of the great artists of the twentieth century, produced so much artwork of so many different kinds that, in a way, it's not surprising to find a variety of museums and collections devoted to him alone.

1. Malaga: Fundacion Picasso
Picasso Foundation - Native Home Museum (Fundacion Picasso), Malaga, Costa del Sol
Picasso was born in 1881, in a five-story building in what is now considered Malaga's historic quarter. The Fundacion Picasso is located here now--the headquarters for the Picasso Foundation worldwide, which also functions as a research facility for art historians from around the world.

A marvelous 17-century hotel is the setting for this vast collection of the artist's works spanning his entire life. It includes not only paintings, but also engravings, collages, and sculptures.
6. Antibes, France: Musee Picasso-Antibes

Any excuse to go to the Cote d'Azur! The Chateau Grimaldi, a castle belonging to the royal family of Monaco, was offered as a space for Picasso to work in during the 1940s. The collection houses 300 of his works, and also includes works by Picasso contemporaries Miro, Leger, and Calder.

A relative newcomer to the small world of Picasso Museums; it opened in 2000 in the German city of Munster. It has a unique collection of over 700 Picasso lithographs and etchings.

A small Spanish town north of Madrid is the setting for this quirky (and small) Picasso Museum. Eugenio Arias was a barber whose friendship with Picasso spanned over 30 years, and the artist made many gifts to Arias of ceramics, photos, paintings, and drawings, all of which are on display here.
