One would be hard placed to think of any one artist to spawn so many museums and collections throughout the world. But the prolific Picasso, considered one of the great artists of the twentieth century, produced so much artwork of so many different kinds that, in a way, it's not surprising to find a variety of museums and collections devoted to him alone.

Picasso was born in 1881, in a five-story building in what is now considered Malaga's historic quarter. The Fundacion Picasso is located here now--the headquarters for the Picasso Foundation worldwide, which also functions as a research facility for art historians from around the world.
A stone's throw away from the Fundacion Picasso is this museum; Picasso's heirs were instrumental in starting the museum, which is located in a beautiful historic building, the Palacio de Buenavista, that is a stunning model of Andulusian architecture.
The mother lode of Picasso's early works, up until his blue period, can be found here in Barcelona, the city that was so essential to him in his formative years.
For any Picasso lover, seeing one of the artist's greatest, most well-known works, his Guernica, is a must, and it is here at this museum in Madrid.
5. Paris: Musee National Picasso
A marvelous 17-century hotel is the setting for this vast collection of the artist's works spanning his entire life. It includes not only paintings, but also engravings, collages, and sculptures.
6. Antibes, France: Musee Picasso-Antibes
Any excuse to go to the Cote d'Azur! The Chateau Grimaldi, a castle belonging to the royal family of Monaco, was offered as a space for Picasso to work in during the 1940s. The collection houses 300 of his works, and also includes works by Picasso contemporaries Miro, Leger, and Calder.
7. Münster, Germany: Graphikmuseums Pablo Picasso Münster
A relative newcomer to the small world of Picasso Museums; it opened in 2000 in the German city of Munster. It has a unique collection of over 700 Picasso lithographs and etchings.
8. Lucerne, Switzerland: Picasso Museum
While small, the collection of works at the historic Am-Rhyn House provides essential viewing for the Picasso lover; the collection focuses on Picasso's works from the last twenty years of his life.
9. Vallauris, France: Musée National Picasso
For a time Picasso had a studio in this hillside French Riveria town; the big draw of the museum here is his famous work La Guerre et La Paix.
10. Buitrago del Lozoya, Spain: Picasso Museum - Eugenio Arias Collection
A small Spanish town north of Madrid is the setting for this quirky (and small) Picasso Museum. Eugenio Arias was a barber whose friendship with Picasso spanned over 30 years, and the artist made many gifts to Arias of ceramics, photos, paintings, and drawings, all of which are on display here.
