Start with the Salt pond visitor's center in Eastham, right off Rt.6. They have a theater with nature films, exhibits, and art gallery and book store. They publish a list of nature walks on their trails: they even have a blind trail. They also have bird watching and dune walking. Then drive down to the old Coast guard station at Coast Guard beach. All free.
2. Nauset Light Beach
Next to Coast GUARD and stop to see the old lighthouse on the way. Use your national parks pass if you go in season.
See the place of the first Trans -Atlantic Cable and notice the change in distance from 100 years ago.
4. Wellfleet Harbor and Village
A few miles off Rt.6 and some of the best oysters in the U.S.
Feels like the end of the U.S. with huge sand dunes and vast seas and also stop at the Pilgrim"s Tower in Provincetown
6. Provincetown
Whale watching, many different boutique shops, and a few good Portuguese bakeries. You can get fresh seafood from the local fishing fleet at any of the many fine restaurants.
Just before you return to your starting point(@22miles out and 22 back) and end the day at the Eastham Windmill, right off Rt.6. Stop at Arnold's for the best fried onion rings and clams on the Cape: they have a large outdoor picnic bench area.
