Get your day started at this Ninth St. diner with some hearty breakfast food. I recommend the huevos rancheros.
2. Play a round at the Duke University Golf Club
This course is found at the Washington Duke Inn (see below) and was designed by Robert Trent Jones. It is somewhat challenging, but manageable enough for the average hacker. Just beware of the gnarly Bermuda grass rough, a trademark of Carolina courses. No matter how you play, you'll enjoy walking among the tall Carolina pines under the bright blue sky (unless maybe you have a lot of money wagered on your game)
3. Spend the afternoon exploring Duke's West and East Campuses
If you're a Duke parent or prospective Duke parent this is pretty much unavoidable, but all Durham visitors should make it a priority to explore and take in the architechtual beauty of Duke. East Campus, the site of the freshman dorms and host to the history and philosophy depts., is modeled after UVA's campus. Here you will find the dorms and academic buildings lining the main quad, a plot students often utilize for outdoor studying or sunbathing. You will also find the Marketplace dining room here and Lilly Library. West Campus is where you will find housing for sophomores and some juniors and seniors, as well as various academic and administration buildings. West is modeled after the gothic styles of Princeton. Here is where you will also find the majority of student protests taking place as well as concerts on the quad. And of course, Cameron Indoor is right across the street.
4. Head to Nana's for dinner
Nana's serves up gourmet food on a nightly basis while managing to avoid having a stuffy atmosphere. It is very relaxed and very good. They also have a nice bar for you to lounge at while you wait to be seated. You might want to make reservations, especially if you go during Duke Parents' Weekend.
5. Enjoy the night over some libations and laughs at the Charlie's Neighborhood Bar
Charlie's has emerged as a favorite watering hole among Duke students while remaining a staple for locals. It has several TVs for sports and a pool room in the back.
6. Begin your morning in the Duke Gardens
When you walk into the premises of the Duke Gardens, especially in spring, you feel like your entering an enchanted land. The Gardens are replete with a diverse assortment of flowers, plants and open green. It's no wonder that this is locale is a favorite among Duke students as a place to study or enjoy a moment with their significant others. Plenty of locals come here as well to enjoy the sites and activities, which makes the Gardens a welcome site, as it is one of the few places where you will find Dukies and Durhamites intermingling (on good terms).
7. Munch on a burrito at Cosmic Cantina
Open daily until 4 AM, this joint is a favorite among Duke students. Enjoy a couple margharitas or cokes with friends while gnoshing down on a well-made burrito or quesodilla.
8. If it's baseballl season, go catch a Durham Bulls game at Durham Bulls Athletic Park
Designed by the same architecture firm responsible for Camden Yards in Baltimore, Durham Bulls Athletic Park is a beautiful ball field with great lawn seats. The Bulls are currently the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' AAA affilitate.
9. I almost forgot, you'll need a place to stay: Washington Duke Inn

Ave price: $214
The "Wa-Duke" (as you will hear some Duke students refer to it) is in an advantageous location, particularly for Duke parents, since it is about a two minute walk from West Campus. It also has a great brunch Sunday mornings and the rooms are more than serviceable.
