English Harbor, Antigua, West Indies is one one of those Caribbean getaways people ask travel agents to find for them.
1. Get there
Flights from the US are easy but it usually involves a changeover, often in Miami or Puerto Rico - allow for a day of flying.

Ave price: $209
This is where we stay - always loved it and they can take you to the beach in their little boat.
3. Walk down to the marina at Falmouth Harbor
Stretch your legs and check out the scene. If you've never been before it will be exotic - if you're a returnee you'll want to see what's changed.
4. Dinner at Life
This restaurant is literally on a dock - built on pilings and deck, surrounded by tranquil water and sailboats. Have a rum punch and enjoy their island versions of pub grub. That will probably do it for tonight.Time for bed.
5. Breakfast at the Marina
An easy walk (you did it yesterday afternoon) - croissants, pastries and coffee at two places, one offering high speed internet (if you must check your e-mail.)
6. Nelson's Dockyard
You could spend days here. Visit the museum, then take a close look at the careening wheels to get an idea of what this place was like when it was the center of British naval operations in the Caribbean.
7. Yachts
These are some of the most amazing private vessels to be seen. Hailing from all over the world, they tie up at the dockyard. Just walk by and note the far away locales from which they set sail.
8. Hike
At the edge of the dockyard a hiking trail leads to former gun emplacements and the ruins of an ammunition depot. From there you can see the volcanic peak of Montserrat. (Wear sturdy footgear and bring water.)
9. Lunch
You're really ready for a cold drink and some food. The Galley is perfect. Under its awnings watch the yachting activity while you enjoy a sandwich and the best 'chips' on the island. Be sure to try a Wadadli (the local beer.) Afterwards, there's a boutique in the rear.
10. Go swimming
If you stay at the Admiral's Inn they'll take you in their motor boat over to a secluded beach. Other lodgings offer their swimming options. (Wear sunscreen!)
11. Dinner
The Admiral's Inn serves dinner on the terrace. HQ2 serves an upscale dinner on its 2nd story veranda, accompanied by live jazz. Many other restauarants, of all flavors are nearby. The Drydock shows movies along with meals in a courtyard setting.
12. Pub Crawl
You may want to find out what name the Todds are calling their place this year and stop by - casual, with a pool table in the rear. The Mad Mongoose deserves its name. Sylvester's Rasta Shack is always lively and the list goes on....
13. That's It!
Enough for now - go to sleep and know that tomorrow will be another beautiful day. You can have breakfast on the terrace, but beware those bananaquits - they'll steal your bacon.
