1. Cable Beach - THE BEACH!

Day 1 - First thing I absolutely HAD to do was put my feet into the sand on Cable Beach. I stayed at the Nassau Beach Hotel so this is the BEACH I sunk my feet into shortly after arriving. No words can describe the beauty of the waters in the Bahamas - you have to GO to understand. Hence, this being a "goList!"

2. Gotta learn to Jitney! HINT: Its not a dance

I really wanted to travel as the locals do - so I used the jitneys all weekend. Wow, is this an experiece not for the claustrophobic! After I learned to base my seat location on my desination, it was smooth travelin' !

How do you get around Cable Beach? Hail a jitney that's how!
3. Fish Fry at Arawak Cay
Arawak Cay, Nassau, New Providence Island
We were skeptical but found this place to be absolutely, positively the BEST place to eat when vacationing on Cable Beach. Take Bus #10 from your hotel to the Fish Fry and a taxi back. Enjoy your dinner! We loved Seafood Haven so much the first day that we decided to eat there again on our last night. Bring a camera and your Bahamian party spirit!

4. Crystal Palace Casino

Of course, on our first night (after our dinner at Arawak Cay) we just had to try our luck in the casino located in the Wyndham Hotel (right next door to the NBH). Try as we might, our luck wasn't with us but we had a great time and got to enjoy a fabulous view of the casion from the bar at the top of the escalator.

5. Cable Beach - More Beach!

Day 2 - Well what can I say - that's why we came to the Bahamas! Long white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, relaxation in the sun and well, more beach! I did take a power walk around the beautiful jogging path early in the morning before my first daiquiri - lol!

Swimming, Lounging & Tropical Drinks - that's what vacations are made of!
6. Water Taxi to Paradise Island

Last day - We set out for Atlantis knowing it would not be the "real" Bahamas but ended up getting a large dose of Bahamian culture anyway. We wanted to ride the water taxi (my other half is a tugboat captain) and saw how locals make their living one way or another from tourism. First there are the boat drivers who are very quiet and capable, then there are the young boys who collect our money and finally the star of the boat ride are the "tour guides" who tell you everything you want to know about the buildings along your journey. It doesn't matter that you get darned near the same speech twice - there and back. Then there is the very kind women at the stand on Paradise Island who makes the best Bahama Mamas around!

Ave price: $525
We like to experience "unmanicured" destinations so we really weren't in the mood to tour a "Disney" style resort. However, this place is soooo extranvegant that we just HAD to take a peak. We would definitely recommend taking the time to spend at least a half of a day at Atlantis. We tried the casino, viewed the free portion of the aquarium, walked through the shops, and pretended to be rich and famous while enjoying a couple of overpriced cocktails.

Overindulged for a day or pretend your someone your not - its a blast!
