Awesome Sri Lanka Tour in 2 weeks - with individual driver/tour guide & surfing

15 May 2013  Individual 2 weeks trip on Sri Lanka with great tour guide as driver
4.0 of 5 stars based on 2 votes

We wanted to explore Sri Lanka in two weeks - see the main ancient cities, temples, fortresses etc. And also just have a relaxed vacation to enjoy beautiful scenary, attractions, cultural and countryside spots and have a couple of surfing days at the end.

We booked a driver by recommendation of a friend, who drove and organised most of the stuff for us. Felt a bit odd to put everything in the hand of one guy we did not knew, but it worked out perfectly well. The driver was a super nice and reliable tour guide and safe driver. Always on time, very friendly. We had made a plan for our tour, which spots to see, but wanted flexibility and did not want to waste time organising accomodations on the go. He knew the island and citiies well and gave us great tips. Basically, he took care of the admin stuff for us, after we had made up our mind. And he has lots of funny stories to tell.
I can recommend this type of vacation for couples or groups who want to explore the island in a relaxed and individual way.

The driver's name is Ranju Wim (phone: +94(710)877710). He is not quite the "digital" type ;-), so better to call him directly in case someone is interested.

Sri Lanka is really a beautiful country! So diverse with lots to see: ancient kingdom cities, temples, valleys, tea plantages, safari, beautiful beaches. The people are great, the food is very tasty (if you like spicy food) and the country is still not as touristy as in Thailand or Vietnam - great for individualist, or on a smaller budget. Also, the surfing is great.

I have already seen many places, and I would rate it similar to New Zealand experiences because of the diversity of the country. Overall, we had a blast and plan to go there again.

Cheers,
Lars & Krissi
