1. Minnesota State Capitol
The Capitol was designed by Cass Gilbert and is one of the most spectacular capitols in the US.
Summit Avenue is the most prestigious and beautiful street in the Twin Cities, maybe in the US.
Accoss the river from downtown, Harriet Island is an oasis on the Mississippi River, with lots of summer events.
4. St. Paul Farmers Market
If you're here on a Saturday morning in the summer, there's no better place to be. There's music, good coffee and pastries, and produce. Everything is grown within a 50-mile radius, and the delicacy of Minnesota vegetables is legendary.
5. Great restaurants on the West Side
The West Side of St. Paul, a short drive across the river, is home to great Mexican restaurants (Boca Chica, among others) and the El Burrito Mercado Mexican market.
6. Rice Park area, downtown St. Paul
The area around Rice Park is a fabulous public space, bordered by the castle-like Landmark Center, the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, the St. Paul Public Library and The St. Paul hotel. Life-size statues of F. Scott Fitzgerald and hockey coach Herb Brooks are nearby.
7. Grand Avenue
Grand Avenue is the hip restaurant and shopping place in St. Paul. Wonderful restaurants, great shopping. The Lexington at Grand and Lexington is a classic St. Paul restaurant.
8. Great places to eat in St. Paul
St Paul has great restaurants. In addition to those listed at this Web site, try Osteria I Nonni in Lilydale, an Italian restaurant a short drive from downtown, and the Boca Chica, an authentic Mexican restaurant just across the Mississippi River from the Wabasha or Robert street bridges.
9. Science Museum of Minnesota
The Science Museum is a terrfic destination for people of all ages.
10. Minnesota Children's Museum
The Minnesota Children's Museum is a great place to visit for children age 6 or under.
