  • 1. Shinta Mani Siem Reap
Shinta Mani Club Siem Reap, Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province

Perfect hotel for families - great pool, AMAZING staff, great breakfast, impeccably clean, close enough to Old Market and also far enough away. Could not design a better 5* hotel.

  • 2. Beng Mealea
    Beng Mealea, Cambodia, Asia

Far away from the tourist crowds (about a 90 minute drive by car). Our guide, Micky (meki_meng@yahoo.com) gave us a great history of the area, Khmer Rouge on our way to Beng Melea. Great place for kids to run and explore.

  • 3. Kompong Pluk

a rural village built on bamboo stilts close to Tonle Sap lake. A great education for the kids with a lot to see. The boat ride around the area is terrific fun for the kids

  • 4. Angkor Thom - crowded and tourist, but a lot of climbing and exploring for kids

A huge walled, shaded area behind Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom has amazing temples for kids to walk around, explore. There are a lot of tourist groups which make it a bit crowded, but nonetheless, it is a fun place for kids. Unfortunately Phimeanakas temple does not allow children under 12 to climb it's steep stairs.

  • 5. Pre Rup
Pre Rup, Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province

great place for a sunset - it does get crowded at sunset, but again the climbing is fun for the kids and the sunset provides great light for photos.

  • 6. Tuk Tuks are the way to go...

Tuk Tuks (motorcycles with a cart attached to the back) are my kids favorite mode of transportation. It's slower than a car, but the open air breeze is better than car A/C and kids love the "adventure". Take the Tuktuk to/from airport/ Angkor Wat... Beng Melea and the Floating/Stilt Village are a bit far by Tuktuk, though we did see some folks who did choose this mode of travel for distant destinations.

  • 7. baguette and cold cuts at Angkor Market for quick, tasty lunch

We had long days of exploring and not being sure of the cleanliness of roadside food, we always brought baguettes and cold cuts with us. Angkor market in town is a great place to pick up a picnic lunch. My kids loved the baguette sandwiches and it was so convenient.

  • 8. Haven Training Restaurant
Haven Training Restaurant, Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province

great restaurant for families and folks with food allergies. My son is allergic to all seafood (fish, shrimp, etc) and so I was worried about eating in Cambodia. Fortunately, the folks at Haven completely accommodated our requests and the food was still delicious. The restaurant is clean and lovely.

  • 9. Bodia Spa Siem Reap
Bodia Spa Siem Reap, Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province

clean, legit massage place in the Old Market part of town. For kids (I think under 12), services are 50%, so my 7 year old got a massage as well after a long day!
