Smaller Wineries of Yarra Valley

23 Dec 2013  Buy the big names in the city; visit the boutique wineries
0.0 of 5 stars based on 0 votes

The big names of Yarra Valley offers breathtaking views and plenty of photo opportunity. But you are familiar with the wines and they can be easily found in any shop. It is, in fact, the boutique wineries that we found worth the effort and time to explore while we were in Yarra Valley. Coincidentally, these are all award-winning wineries.

Wally was a really friendly guy who patiently introduce each of his wines. We absolutely love the Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • 2. Boat O'Craigo

The owner is not exactly the friendliest guy around (probably thinks we are not serious buyers), but his white wines, especially the Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer are outstanding. It also boasts the best scenery among the smaller wineries.

  • 3. Seville Hill
Seville Hill Winery, Seville, Yarra Valley

The lady seems pretty busy when we were there and made us wait on several occasions. But the 2009 Reserve Shiraz made up for the wait.

  • 4. Seville Estate

Margaret seems to talk more about her dog than her wine but I supposed their award winning wines would have spoken for themselves.
