An inspirational family outing in Baltimore, Maryland

23 Jul 2006  Family time together creates great memories!

My husband and I visited the The Great Blacks in Wax Museum in Baltimore last September and decided it would make for a great day trip with our extended family. After deciding on a date in October of last year, we could not have picked a better day.

It was 7 of us in our group including a 2 year old . Our morning was spent touring the museum and I must say I was just as overwhelmed on this visit as I was on the previous visit. My family was amazed and the displays and the history that this small building away from the tourist area had behind its rusted doors. If ever you needed a jolt of reality and inspiration this is the place that will do it. Not only was the experience for myself and my family emotional but it was also very enlightening. The displays of the many great african americans of our time were so life-like you almost felt like they could see and hear you. We especially like the story-telling behind each image that was displayed as you approached the figures. It is truly a must see place for people of all races.

After our visit there, it was time for lunch and I had previously made reservations at J Pauls on the waterfront. The food was great, and the atmosphere was quite pleasant. The waiters were very accomodating and took great care of us. My sister inlaw fell in love with their chicken supreme salad. She said it was amazingly good. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the prices were moderate.

After lunch we strolled around the harbor to walk off some of our lunch and then headed for the Aquarium. For first time visitors it was a nice treat, but its not someplace we will return again any time soon. Not that it was not nice, it was, but we were not overwhelmed by it.

It was time again for a break, so we found our way inside the mall for ice-cream, and then we found seats outside to relax and people watch. We could not have asked for a better day. The weather for mid October was BEAUTIFUL!!! It was absolutely gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky.

It was a great day, and one that we all will cherish. It was enlightening, educational, and just a fun way to spend time together.
