| Half a day tour includes not only some histoical and geographical information about Inverness and the surrounding area, but includes a cruise on Loch Ness with one of the researchers of the "Nessie" myth. You can also view Urquart Castle from the river and have the opportunity to explore the castle's ruins. |

4. River Cafe

Popular restaurant for locals and tourists alike. We took advantage of "High Tea" which is an extremely economical way to satisfy the hungriest tourist. The meal begins with of cousre tea (or coffee) and toast and marmalade. The main course I chose was fresh salmon accompanied by several salads and sides. When we thought we were finishes, dessert arrived in the form of many varieties of sweets! There are tables outside facing the river or you can dine in. It is extemely popular, so reservations are suggested. |

Home of the Earls of Cawdor (yes of Macbeth fame) although there is really no connection the the Bard's character. It is a private "stately" home stilled occupied by the "dowager countess." The maginificant gardens are also worth a visit. Cawdor is accessible by public transportation. (It is not easy, but doable.) |

6. Whiskey Tasting
| If you cannot get to a distillery, most of the liquor shops that sell whiskey, will let you taste before you buy (or not). They will also answer questions. Please do not call it Scotch. It is malt whiskey. |

9. Mustard Seed

| Nouvelle Scottish cuisine served in an old church building overlooking the River Ness. Go for the early bird, that includes a glass of wine, a starter and a main course. |

10. Orkney Island Excursion
| A long day, but a fun opprtunity to see the Orkney Islands. Bus leaves Inverness at 7:30 am, links with the ferry and guided tour on the otherside. It is a fast paced tour, but gives you another flavor of Scotland. It returns to Inverness at 9:pm. |
