An oddball list of places to go and things to do in Michigan.
If you are in Michigan and someone tells you to go to hell, that usually means it's a round trip back to where you started. This is a wonderful Michigan gem that everyone loves to tell you to go to, but everyone soon gets 'burned out' hearing about it.
Not only is the chicken here famous, the waiters who wear Lederhosen are pretty hot items too - at least with the older ladies. =) I actually used to work here as a prep cook a couple of years ago - i can clerely remember those hot afternoons serving at weddings.
If you didn't pick up the Lederhosen reference, then I'll explain that Frankenmuth is a town entirely themed after a small town in Germany. Working here is not the same as visiting here. After a while, you just lose all respect for German Oom-pah music. =(
What is with all these themed communities in Michigan??? Anyway, if you feel like running around windmills, wearing clogs and jumping into fields of tulips - this is the town for you.
Oh wow, yes, the Michiganders dream vacation isn't actually hunting in the U.P., it's going into enemy terrritory to visit Cedar Point. The football rivalry between Michigan and Ohio may be strong, but sneaking out there and covering up our license plates with back woods mudd will do wonders once riding these roller coasters. Sweet joy. =)
Oh yes, Michigan beer is sooooo good. In fact Michigan 'indie' beers or microbrews are just so tasty and the alchohol content is usually really high. That may be one of the reasons Founders Brewing Co. is getting more popular beyond Michigan's glove shaped shorelines.
A small rural town on Lake Superior which could be an escape if you've just returned from Hell.
