  • 1. Stanley Park
    Stanley Park, Vancouver, British Columbia

    Has to be one of the best city parks on the planet. Park all day for $6 and enjoy jogging, cycling, swimming (sea and seawater pool), rollerblading, aquarium, gardens, wildlife, artists and all a 15 minute walk from Robson Street.

  • 2. Granville Island
    Granville Island, Vancouver, British Columbia

    Best public market, selling amazing selection of fruit, veg, meat, breads. Huge variety of eating places. Shops selling arts and crafts abound and the atmosphere is fantastic. Good play facilities for children and the kids' only market is a must for toys etc

  • 3. Grouse Mountain
    Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver, British Columbia

    Take the Grouse Mountain Gondola for spectacular views over Burrard Inlet and downtown. Shop, dine or hike at the top, or take the Screaming Eagle chairlift down the east side of the mountain for a diffterent view of the port of Vancouver. Reasonably fit people should do the 'Grouse Grind' which takes a more energetic but infinitely more satisfyng route to the top. A sure way to meet some interesting folk! Catch the lumberjack shows- entertaining and professional.

    Best casual dining experience in North Vancouver. Food superb, service brilliant, child friendly, atmosphere fantastic and affordable.

  • 5. Sea to Sky Highway
    Sea to Sky Highway, British Columbia, Canada

    Has to be one of the most scenic drives, starting in Vancouver and finishing in Whistler. There are some roadworks at present as preparations for 2010 Olympics get underway, but who wants to hurry when there is scenery like this to look at?

  • 6. Third Beach, Stanley Park

    Go first thing in the morning and your will find a perfect beach just minutes from the city centre with spectacular views and good clean sand. Better still, cycle there.

  • 7. Spokes Bike Rentals. Vancouver

    Find this gem at the corner of Denman and West Georgia Streets, just a stones throw from the Park and the seawall. Great bikes to suit everyone and miles of safe bike trails to try out.

  • 8. UBC Botanic Garden

    Situated at Point Grey on UBC Campus. A must for Garden lovers and not busy in the mornings. Check out the Museum on Anthropolgy nearby.

  • 9. B.C. Ferries
    BC Ferries, Victoria, Victoria Capital Regional District

    Best way to explore sunshine coast. Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale (40 minutes). Short drive to Gibsons Landing - good base for exploring ths coast. Ferries are frequent, reliable, well appointed and great way of seeing some of the best coastal scenery in North America.

    Gorgeous fishing port just 40 minutes from Horseshoe Bay - great ferry ride.
    Good eating places and fantastic scenery.
