1. Chichen Itza
This is a real must for anybody visiting cancun area. The view from the top of chichen itza is breathtaking. I went on this trip before having my daughter ,and i must admit i would not go again now i have her , as it is a very long journey and tiring day. And if you want to climb up chichen itza it is very difficult , as it is so steep you have to pull yourself up by the chain in middle of the steps and come down step by step on your bottom. All in all a sight not to be missed.
2. Tulum
Tulum is another must on your visit to cancun area. when you arrive to tulum your guide will tell you to make your dinner reservations before you go onthe tour as it will be ready for you when you have had your tour. Once you have done that your guide will take you down to the ruins , which is a fair walk from the coach, and when you go beyond the walls of tulum pass the guards, and see the view of tulum with the back drop of the sea, it is all worth while . Amazing trip.
In my opinion xcaret is the best trip to go on cancun. Here you can snorkel scuba dive , snuba, swim with the dolphins, ride horses, swim the underground rivers, see the butterfly pavillion, jaguar island, aquarium, turtles, crocodiles, sharks, mannatees, and after youve seen all this and more, theres a relaxing beach, and lagoons to swim in. When dinner time arrives the restaurants here are out of this world,(would recomend the palapas retaurant overlooking the sea and dolphins, and try a big pineapple filled with a pina colada. and later on included in your package is the night show not to be missed .
Xel-ha is a snorkel haven , hundreds of species of fish are to be seen in the lagoons here. There is a walk bridge along the water to the island onthe other side which you can , swim in the cenotes, or dive of a cliff into a lagoon ,or simply have a rubber ring to slowly gide down the river. The restaurants here are great value for money ,if you only have entrance included, but i must recomend going for the all inclusive package here, as all food and drinks and icecreams ,bottles of water are included and you can eat from any restaurant or drink from any bar in the park.
Basically a wet'n'wild park ,but grat fun for every age. Here is not just slides and rides, here you can swim with the dolphins or be a dolphin trainer for the day. You can even swim with the sealions (which is great fun). The lazy river is relaxing after been on the slides, or go along the beach for a walk and spot the stingrays and other fish as you paddle.Great day for any age .
6. Aquaworld
Aquaworld has something for anyone , from scuba trips to jetskiing . But must reccomend the subsea explorer, which you will be taken from dockside on the lagoon by boat , through the mangroves into the open sea ,where you will come to the submarine near a reef . You get into the submarine and submurge to see the wonderful sights of the reef below with views of turtles and rays and tropical fish all around.
7. La isla shopping village
The la isla shopping village is my favourite plaza in cancun, unlike the others it is all outside with canopies above in case it rains. La isla has a river running through it , which you can catch a boat trip around ,and it takes you into the lagoon(yes the one with the crocodiles!) . There are some great shops here to spend all your money in, and also lots of choices of places to eat. I would reccomend planet hollywood , it is a lot better here than it was at plaza flamingo. Also try Johnny Rockets, a real american diner. While your at La isla go to the Aquarium , but go around 6pm as included in your entrance is the dolphin show.
8. mercado 28
Market 28 is a bus ride away from any hotel on the hotel zone, so be a dare devil and take a trip on the bus . If you tell the bus driver where you are going , he will shout to you when to get of(it is the same stop as walmart, also another great place to visit). When you get off immediatly there are sings for mercado 28, but if you get lost just ask anybody and they will tell you the way. when you get there , it is somewhere to barter, and enjoy the experience , you will love it and get some great bargains in the process.
Bubba gump is a great place to eat, would reccomend to everybody . It is taken from the film forrest gump, and the inside is done up as such. The food is mostly seafish ,and amazing, value for money GREAT!.
