Places to visit with familys around Lancaster PA
PA German village - Great place to visit, very informative and fun. Watch a short film about the background information and then you can explore the village at your own pace. There are people dressed in period attire at certain locations that give you background information. Pack a lunch, there is no food available or very close.
2. Strasburg railroad
Nice train ride about 20min one way then back. You can pack a picnic lunch and get off the train, then catch the next one to come back to the station. The open air car was great, none of the cars had air conditioning. Next time we will get off the train and try the corn maze at the local farm it's the same stop as the picnic area.
We loved these caves, very interesting. Only a few minutes from Hershey. The gift shop didn't offer real authentic items, but we did like the caverns.
4. Sight and Sound Theater
Great stage show. Wonderful family entertainment. We saw "Ruth". The production is just amazing. Live animals everywhere, massive stage and sets. Reccomend the theater highly.
We bought the History channel Auto tour CD at the visitors center. Very interesting and informative. You can also stop when you want which is nice with kids. Would highly recommend.
We stopped here the day we were in Gettysburg. HUGE barn Full of bears, my 10 year old loved it. I thought it was way too pricey, The bear nursey was a minimum of around $50 for a bear and a few accessories. We decided to make a bear($20) and we picked an outfit($10). Although we prefer Build-a-bear, this is something to see if you like teddy bears.
Quaint little free museum and reasonable priced chocolate shop. In a very nice little town.
