I spent 6 nights here. 3 were at the beginning, 3 were at the end. During the first stay, the experience was typically American and mundane. On the second stay, what was humdrum before, now was exceptional! What a difference a trek thru the Hungarian countryside can make. |

10. Holloko
|

| From the UNESCO site: Hollokö is an outstanding example of a deliberately preserved traditional settlement. This village, which developed mainly during the 17th and 18th centuries, is a living example of rural life before the agricultural revolution of the 20th century. |

14. Valley of the Beautiful Women
|

| Don't miss the trolley from Eger town square up to the wineries! And don't worry if you miss the first trolley back, you can stay a while and catch another one later. The Bikaver wine is worth it. |

| Went to the Cave Bath here. Set in a touristy obnoxious water park, but a very cool experience anyway! |

27. Lake Heviz
|
|
| Worth the detour! Warm, soothing waters make up for the utilitarian environment. |
|

| Hungary's resort playland. Very touristy, but a nice lake for a hot summer day. |

| The peninsula is beautiful! Get here very early if you can, the town fills up quickly with tourists. |

|

| The largest church in Hungary resides here. You can also cross the Danube to enter Slovakia here. |

| Only had lunch here. Good food, and OMG, what a view! |
|
|

| Shopper's paradise in a pretty old town. You can take an hour long cruise back down the Danube to Budapest from here. |
