Places to see:
Hildene, Lincoln's sons home - gorgeous,
Northshire bookstore - a must see for book enthusias, check out the cafe too (great soupsManchester, VT
Laney's - route 30, Manchester, VT for ribs like no other (the best)
Chandeloros - If you honkering for a Margarita these homemade margarita's can't be beat. Make sure you ask to see the menu for their fresh squeeze lime juice margarita's.
Quechee Falls - It is a beautiful site to see - definitely a photo opp.
Also in Quechee - visit Simon Pierce the studio and restaurant. Had dinner there and it was exquisite. Request a table by the falls it is worth the wait. Strongly recommend dinner reservations. Lunch is a more inexpensive way out. Check out Rachel Ray's review on the Food Network too.
Woodstock, Vt - the town is so picturesque - wish we had more time to spend there. Great shops and scenery.
While in Quechee you must go to the Quechee Gorge - an awesome experience. You must walk both ways up and down the gorge. Dress appropriately. If you pack a lunch eat at the top of the gorge as there are picnic tables and open area's

Stopped in the Museum for Norman Rockwell on our way to White River Junction. Worth the detour for 1/2 or so. You can either walk through the store side or go into the Museum exhibit it is fairly inexpensive and worth the look.

In Shelburne, VT you must see the Shelburne Farms. They have some of the best scenery in town. For those with young children there is also a petting zoo. There is also a small beach and plenty of picinic area. There is also the Shelburne Museum. At Shelburne Farms you must try out there cheddar cheese. Voted one of the best in the country. Lake Champlain is beautiful and overlooks the New York Adirondack Mountain range. Incredible site!
Walking in downtown Burlington it is so nice. Just park your car and take a nice long walk. Visit the Vermont Brewery - Great beer! And stop by one of the many good restaurants on Church Street. Church street is a must see and Yes there is a church atop the street but is is a walking mall area with some nice shops.
In Brattleboro, vist the Lathis Theater which has been almost full restored. Gorgeous place to see a movie. The adjoining hotel with its separate entrance is very clean, staff accomodating and in the process of being further restored itself. There are plenty of bookstores and a very nice Food-Coop that you can get your organic foods from. Ate lunch there and it was very good.

Church street is a must see and Yes there is a church atop the street but is is a walking mall area with some nice shops. There are many beautiful old homes to see if you decide to take a walking tour. This is a place that I wish we had much more time to spend.

It is up and coming and being restored along the way. There is a museum in town that offers open house in many of the area businesses for artwork displays.
