If you want a weekend getaway that is FUN and RELAXING, this list is for you. Gives some ideas of what to do without getting wore out, but still being entertained.
Cozy, but very nice bed and breakfast. Linda, the innkeeper, is so friendly and knowledgeable. Nice rooms and a wonderful breakfast each morning. Located at 44 Spanish Street (hints the name), so it is off of St. George Street. Wonderful location and quiet street.
Old Town Trolley's are the best transportation around St. Augustine. Many locations to get on/off at and the guides are very informative. I had also tried the other "train" in town, however they were not as friendly or knowledgeable. I recommend riding the trolley to each stop all the way through once, then pick your destination to get off at. That way you get all the information and get to see the sites as well. You can also use the same ticket for several days! Worth every penny.
The tour is excellent, mostly self-guided. Entertaining and beautiful scenery. The smell can be bad on a hot day. Has refreshments outside to enjoy. The Fountain of Youth have beautiful birds running and flying around, even an albino peacock. Definitely a must do, just to say you have done it.
Nice open atmostphere with great food. Stop and have lunch there. Either sit out on the porch or near a window so you can people watch while you enjoy your meal.
Short trip through time with actors playing deputy sheriff. You are treated as a prisoner to show you what it was like back in the old days. Very amusing and entertaining. Great for the whole family or just for you and your loved one. Inexpensive and is a treat. This is on the trolley stop, so very easy to get to, then get back on the trolley after the tour.
Beautiful, but a LONG walk to the top. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to climb many stairs. Fortunately, there are resting benches on the way to help take the load off. The view and scenery are absolutely breathtaking.
Just enjoy some quiet shopping and the wonderful musicians play, while walking down this lovely street.
Definitely experience one of the many ghost tours that are offered in this town. This was our favorite and we recommend it for both knowledge and entertainment. You get to learn more about the hauntings, murders, and the history of this town. Pricing is fair and the worth the price.
