5 Oct 2006  spent 3 nights in KL in mid september 2006. toured the city with my husband and we had gathered tourist information from many resources including family who live there.

a guide to touring Kuala Lumpur in a limited time frame

  • 1. Islamic Arts Museum
    Islamic Arts Museum, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan

    as malaysia has a predominantly muslim population it is imperative to experience the muslim culture. the museum has a vast selection of relics and art and crafts well worth the small entrance fee of 20 Ringkitts

  • 2. National Mosque (Masjid Negara)
    National Mosque (Masjid Negara), Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan

    this sight neighbours the museum and when you visit the museum it is a great idea to walk about the mosque which is an example of Islamic architecture.

  • 3. The Blue Mosque

    this mosque boasts the worlds tallest minarets and largest dome as well as being a spectacular exhibit of Islamic architecture. it is about 45 minutes away from the city centre but if you have time and a keen interest in Islamic art and architecture this is a must see.

  • 4. KL Tower/ Menara KL

    if you seek the best view of the city, pay the 20 ringkitt and go here.
    we wanted to go higher than the skybridge of the petronas towers and be able to view the towers in the skyline. the price includes an audio-visual tour guide which is highly informative. this is strongly recommended!

  • 5. Suria KLCC Mall
    Suria KLCC Mall, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan

    even if you dont want to shop come here for a close up view of the twin towers.
    also catch a meal at either the food court where you will be spoilt for choice or at the steak restaurant overlooking the fountains outside.

  • 6. Bukit Bintang Walk

    the heart of Malaysias golden triangle. this is a dining and shopping heaven and is easily accessible using the monorail.

  • 7. Times Square Mall

    A mall with everything including an indoor rollercoaster!
    Sample the tom yum soup and cheesecake/brownies at Secret Recipe while here. this mall is much more affordably priced than other malls in KL.

  • 8. Chinatown - Kuala Lumpur
    Chinatown - Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan

    savour the fresh fruit and shopping on Petaling Street. Bargain hard!

  • 9. Musjid India

    if you have time, experience the 'indian quarter'. Indians make up 10% of the Malaysian population.
