2. Walking & the T
|
|
FYI - you can walk almost anywhere in Boston as long as you are in relativly good shape. we walked from the Science museum to Quincey Markey and then to the North End (we "T"ed home). Make sure you bring comfortable shoes - I was forced to wear sneakers all weekend! If you have cute shoes and plan on using the "T" and walking leave them home and buy some stilish new Chucks.
The "T" is SO easy to take - so affordable. Don't bother with a car. If you are afarid of mass trans, don't be. No problems, no bums, nothing. Someone once told me "Stay away from the orange line". There were a few times that I had to use this line - no problems again. *Shrugg* |

| I am from Buffalo, NY where we have resturants like this all over the place - just somewhere for a good, hearty breakfast! Prices were competitive. Close to midtown, Prudential, MFA. Food was great! |

You may look at this and think that it's hoakey - but it's a great way to take in Boston, the freedom trail and the harbor - all for one price. The drivers are wacky and it's a lot of fun.
HINT/TIP - there are duck tours locations all over the city. Originally we purchased our tix at the Prudential center since it was near to our hotel - only to find another location at the Science Museum. Since we were only there for 2 days, and time was at a minimum, we were able to switch our tickets from one location to another. Now, I am not sure if this is standard procedure, but you may want to see where there outlets are and double up. |

We saw BodyWorlds2 - AWESOME- not gross @ all. HINT: If you are a student or a teacher and have ID/businesscard/paystub with you as proof you can get into all the other "pay" exhibitions for free! |

7. Dino's in the North End (Italian Section of Boston)
|
|
| My husband and I are grad students and looking for good food on a modest budget. We found dino's by chance! In the midst of some VERY pricey ( but I am sure delicious) resturants, Dino's was super yummy and quite afordable. Oh the portions are a good size and you can share as long as you get a small side ( extra garlic bread is a good choice) |

This was a nice day trip to Cambridge-free. HINT: DON'T TAKE THE SUBWAY! route too long & you can take the #1BusMassAve 30c-cheaper, and save a 1/2 hour of travel time. |

We got a map and walked this without a guide. Most of the things that we saw were covered on our Duck Tour. Glad that we didn't pay for a duplicate. |

Easy to take the commuter train from Government Station to Salem. Cost $3.25 each way. Trains on the weekends run about every hour. LIMITED SERVICE AT NIGHT! This was a fine day trip but leave yourself a lot of time - much to do. We didn't get to do much more than walk around because of time constraints. Seems like going at night would be better - spookier!
Worth the trip - very interesting and fun. |

12. Brothers Restaurant & Deli
|
|
| Again, want to save $$ this is a good place to eat. Don't let the "cafiteria style" put you off. It was really resonable to eat, super fast, and no need to tip. Basic breakfast 2eggs, homefries and toast about $3. |

13. House of Seven Gables

AAA discount - $1. We tried to get a tour, but there was too long of a time wait. if you are not a Hawtorn fan, I suggest walking the streets a little, you can still see the house up close - find 6 or the seven gables and take in the houses exterior beauty. |

14. Ye Olde Pepper Companie
|
|
| Stop in and try! My husband loved the old fashioned candy - I thought it was okay. Certianly a novilty. |
