This is my "favorites" list for things to enjoy around Charlotte, NC. I use the word "favorites" instead of "best" because I just know what I love, but I can't claim to have tried every other alternative in the city. If you know of great alternatives, please share them! I plan on adding to this list as I make new discoveries.

Located at Johnston Road and Ballantyne Commons Parkway. Five Guys has the best burgers (and fries!) in Charlotte.

4. Favorite Lakeside Bar: T-Bones On The Lake

Food's not great and the service can be flaky, but the beer tastes good and the view is beautiful on a summer night.

6. Favorite Catawba Lake: Lake Wylie
Lake Wylie, South Carolina
Lake Norman is too big. Mountain Island Lake is too small. Lake Wylie is -just- right! Plus not nearly as many pesky problems with lake levels as on Norman.
7. Favorite Upscale Night Out: Charlotte Symphony

With a beautiful hall in Blumenthal, attending a concert is as easy as a quick stroll from anywhere in uptown. Classical music has never been so accessible!

Beautiful houses, a Christmas home tour, the Fourth Ward's where it's at in Charlotte.
9. Favorite Budget-Conscious Museum: Mint Museum of Craft + Design

With free admission on select nights, the Mint Museum is a great place to listen to jazz and explore the wonders of craft and design after hours.
