A list of my top picks for restaurants in El Paso, Texas
The most expensive restaurant in town (entrees are 20s and 30s), and the food and wine live up to the price. Live music some nights, located downtown.
Hard to categorize with excellent everyday foods (best burger in town) as well as the best nouveau cuisine in town. Best (not largest) wine list. Wine tasting classes are not to be missed. Gourmet grocer/market attached, priced accordingly. Inside Sunland Park Mall.
Best outdoor dining in town, but nice indoors as well. Nouveau/Italian-based cuisine, good wine list, humidor, live music on weekends.
Trendy, happening restaurant and bar at Cincinnati St and Stanton (Kern/University area) that has upscale food, good mixed drinks, and a lounge atmosphere with cool music. Best house salad in town (mixed greens with cranberries, asiago...). Great ahi tuna - have them put in the salad!
Small, cute thin crust pizza with gourmet and traditional ingredients
The only Japanese-owned and run sushi restaurant in town (it's authentic, and a little hole in the wall to find). 4886 Hercules Ave Ste B; El Paso, TX 79904. 915-751-9355.
Small,
clean and the best Middle Eastern food in town. Owned and run by a
Lebanese professor.
2716 N. Mesa El Paso, TX (915) 351-1350
Gourmet international cuisine, great ambience. The location seems to be cursed, though, as it has changed names and owners frequently.
5411 N Mesa St; El Paso, TX 7991. (915) 581-8100
Very good Indian fare. Nice atmosphere but the kitchen is slow. Open Sunday evenings, which is rare in this town for a non-chain.
5380 N Mesa St; El Paso, TX 79912. (915) 833-2245
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in a city full of them. Located in 5
Points: 2919 Pershing Dr; El Paso, TX 79903. (915) 566-9833
The
only Vietnamese restaurant in town. It's pretty good (and I've been to
Vietnam), esp. their pho. Weak ambience and don't expect Vietnamese
waitstaff.
8838 Viscount Blvd # A; El Paso, TX 79925. (915) 598-0166
Modern American cuisine in a trendy, upscale atmosphere. Service shaky. Nice enclosed, covered patio but can get smoky and loud if live music. Food varies from very good to disappointing.
A small dive with great Chihuahuan (Mexican) food. Good for breakfast too.
A local favorite that's hard to find even with directions - far West Side of El Paso metro, but worth the drive. Mix of Chihuahuan and New Mexico cuisine in a little diner.
