Fantastic Trip to Italy

From Lake Como to Venice, From Rome to Cinque Terre to Tuscany, by rail, boat and car.
1. Milan
Milan, Lombardy
From Malpensa, take the bus to Central Train station. 5 Euro's per person, about an hours drive.
2. Jolly Hotel Pontevecchio
NH Pontevecchio, Lecco, Lake Como

Ave price: $131
Lecco is a nice town on the lake, and you can take a terrific boat ride to Varenna. The Jolly Hotel was fine and had a great breakfast buffet.
3. Eremo Gaudio
Eremo Gaudio, Varenna, Lake Como
One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed Varena is great town and not too touristy
4. Hotel Ca' Dogaressa
Hotel Ca' Dogaressa, Venice

Paolo treated us great. The rooms were fine and close to train station. He recommended restaurant "Trattoria alla Madonna. It was very good and reasonably priced.
5. Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre, Italian Riviera
We loved this area. Stayed in Manarola which is the smallest town. Vernazza is busier and has more restaurant choices. We walked the towns and used the trains. Be sure to take the boat so you can se the towns from the sea. Food in the area was pricey and not especially good. We found the seafood lacking but being from New Orleans, maybe we 're too critical. Overall we spent 3 days here and enjoyed every minute of it.
6. Podere Le Manzinaie

We spent 3 days with Fiore, Marzia and Alice. What special people and place. Using this as a base we traveled by car throughout the surrounding area. We picked our own fruit and vegetables from their garden and had breakfast in our own kitchen. They recommended an excellent restaurant nearby.
