1. San Juan Islands
The San Juan Islands are surrounded by Orcas. We took a whale watching tour on the Victoria Clipper out of Seattle in Auguest and saw 30 or more Orcas, including babies, jumping and swimming and having fun. Next time I will spend the night on the islands.
This place in the winter is where the manatees go to keep warm. In the coldest months (January and February), the park post signs indicating the number of manatees (including babies) and the number is usually over 50. The water is clear spring water, so you can see every move the manatees make. It's really amazing.
3. South Africa
My ultimate dream trip - to go on a safari in South Africa. Maybe it won't live up to my dreams, but I get so excited just thinking about seeing Elephants, giraffes, and lions in the wild.
Cute penguins on the beach, just walking around having fun.
One of the few places where you can see polar bears. The bears hang out here when the ice is too soft in the summer. It's called the Polar Bear Capital of the World. I think I could watch polar bears all day - and I want to test that theory.
Huge great whites jump high in the air off the coast of Cape Town. Why? Who knows, but I can't wait to see it.
7. Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge
Where the grizzlies gather to catch salmon
An elk herd in Pennsylvania - who knew?
