Singapore Hotel choices ...
based on 63 votes
with so many hotels in SIN and different neighborhoods, where does one stay ? I hope this little list will help make your decision easier ...
PLEASE NOTE {added May '08} : the prices had gone up quite a bit in the past year so some may not consider the prices to be reasonable anymore from when I had first posted this list (eg. the family room at Orchard Parade is not as reasonable as it used to be and so, it might be better to find a family package at the Swissotel Merchant Court - aka SMC or Rendezvous)
I do try to edit/update this list whenever I am able to. Good Luck and enjoy SIN as much as I do !

You should consider this area if you are in town mainly for shopping, some of the better ones are :
1) Shangri La (valley wing is definitely for those who want pampering and those seeking luxury, garden wing is perfect for honeymooners and couples seeking some privacy while Tower wing is for everyone !) Room size at the Tower wing begins at 38 sq m, at the Garden Wing it is at 50 while Valley wing is at a generous 57 sq m
2) Four Seasons - the best service that you can always count on, basic room is at 42 sq m
3) Grand Hyatt - has the best gym in town, great restaurants, normal deluxe Grand rooms are at 54 sq m
4) St. Regis - new hotel in town (2008), has one block (the others r residential) that is the hotel right next to Tanglin Mall), great location on the quieter side of Orchard, close to Botanical Garden, high end accomodation that promises ultra luxury
Other 4 to 5* properties to take note along Orchard area (please take note that the star rating can be misleading at times due to the fact that they may have met the minimum requirement of a 4 or 5* property by having enough facilities and services but in the end, it may not meet your expectation of quality):
1) Meritus Mandarin (Grand Tower is the newer wing of the property), rooms are at 32 sq m
2) Hilton (linked to the Four Seasons via covered walkway), rooms are not very big at 27 sq m but this hotel had been updated just recently and located on the quieter side of town
3) Royal Plaza on Scotts (this is always a good bet for all travelers due to location and quality of hotel), rooms are at 32 sq m, next category up is at 36 sq m
4) Marriott (unique architecture, rooms are of different shapes and sizes, poolside rooms are fabulous)
5) Goodwood Park (not your usual city hotel, this is a short low rise charming colonial with large lovely landscaped grounds, a good compromise if you dont wish to pay Raffles prices) Tower wing rooms begin at 36 sq m
6) Sheraton Towers (right by Newton MRT and across from the famous Newton Hawker center)
7) Orchard (modern clean and sleek design, right at the very beginning of Orchard Road), rooms are at 29 sq m, and next up in category is 35 sq m
8) Orchard Parade (offers family rooms/suites which has a seperate living and dining area rather than just two rooms or one big room with 2 beds), rooms begin at 21, then 24 sq m and the family studio at 42 (for 3 pax) while the family suite is at 70 sq m for 4 people (UPDATE May 2009 : hotel had been updated esp. in their club rooms, good choice for the price for Orchard area).
9) Phoenix (very centrally located, right next to Somerset MRT)
10) Regent (good classic hotel right next to Tanglin Mall), rooms begin at 36 sq m, the deluxe is only 2 sq m bigger
11) Traders (shangri la's business hotel but cater well to families too esp. their executive apartment with kitchenette), small rooms at 28 sq m and next category is only 30 sq m
12) Pan Pacific Orchard (previously known as Meritus Negara) - great location, rooms begin at 27 sq m, premier and club rooms at 35 sq m, exec and suites are at 53 and 66 respectively
13) Concorde (last updated : Nov 2008) - This property is currently going thru' renovation (scheduled to be completed by Spring 2009). |

2. Marina, Suntec and Raffles City area hotels
|
|
Marina, Suntec and Raffles City hotels (this area has more character due to the colonial structure and history all around the neighborhood, also closer to water so hotels in this area have a very nice view) :
All the hotels listed in this area are 5* luxury properties :
Fairmont Raffles (previously known asRaffles Plaza) - famous sister hotel across the street, Plaza is a modern city hotel with very cool designs, directly above City Hall MRT (main changing station) Room size is at 39 sq m, Grand rooms are quite a bit bigger at 57 sq m
Swissotel Stamford - has the coolest kids' room in town, share facilities with Raffles Plaza, rooms are at 33 sq m though the harborview rooms are smaller at 32 sq m, Grand rooms are quite a bit bigger at 50 sq m
Oriental - nice blend of east and west decor, very chic public areas, expensive restaurants, linked to Marina Square mall, nice bathrooms and decor in rooms, room size begins at 34 sq m (the deluxe rooms are at 41 sq m)
Pan Pacific - dependable choice of a hotel, linked to the Marina Square Mall, rooms are comfortable at 41 sq m but the ones with balconies are at 45
Marina Mandarin - another good choice that is linked to Marina Square Mall, rooms are at 32 sq m
Ritz Carlton - was the first 6* hotel, linked to Marina Square via bridge and walkways, rooms are spacious at 50 sq m
Conrad - great business hotel, caters to families, Suntec's only hotel but linked via walkways and bridges to Marina Square, rooms begin at 40 sq m
River side hotels (SMC is not right by the river but across the bridge from Clark Quay) :
Fullerton - historic landmark, nice classic with good restaurants, short walk to Boat Quay, Courtyard rooms begin at 42 sq m
Novotel Clark Quay - most rooms have a view (recommended are the novation rooms), rooms are 28 sq m, going up to 32 and 40 respectively in the better category rooms
Swissotel Merchant Court - great family hotel (does have a bit of a city resort feel, great pool for kids), walking distance to Chinatown and Clark Quay
Grand Copthorne Waterfront - big hotel with a lot of amenities and facilities, private jetty for river boat rides to other river side neighborhoods
To this area, I will add Marina South -> designated casino resort area, currently under construction is the Marina Bay Sands |

3. Family/Kids Friendly hotels
|
|
Family hotels (there are a lot of hotels in town that have connecting rooms but these listed here have 2 doubled bedded rooms available) : 1) Swissotel Merchant Court - there is the MRT station in front of the hotel as well as a hotel really cater well to families, they have kids' room that are interconnecting rooms which are designed and decorated for just kids, very reasonably priced for the two rooms and your kids will love this pool here ! 2) Orchard Parade - family rooms/suites at reasonable prices (see Orchard hotels for room sizes) 3) Holiday Inn Park View - great central location along Orchard with MRT close by (u r surrounded by dining and shopping options) 4) Rendezvous - famous for the Nasi Padang, good reasonably priced hotel with standard rooms, basic rooms start at 28 sq m (only premier rooms can accommodate 4) 5) Plaza Park Royal - nice pool, small rooms but furnished nicely, rooms are at 30 sq m 6) Albert Court - in Little India, adequate and basic rooms with a nice courtyard feel 7) Intercontinental - convenient to everything, great 'happening" neighborhood, rooms start at 38 sq m 8) Marina Mandarin - family rooms available (connecting rooms) 9) Royal Plaza on Scotts - connecting rooms available 10) Goodwood Park - Park Lane Suites are apartment type rooms in a seperate wing from the hotel, the suites (2 different type) have a little kitchenette 11) YMCA Metropolitan - covered/sheltered kids' pool, apartments are available, due to location, u will have to rely on local buses (only a few mins to Scotts and Orchard road), really reasonable rates, in a quiet residential neighborhood 12) Swissotel Stamford - coolest kids' room in town (connecting rooms) but a little pricer than the others, great central location 13) Four Seasons - beginning from Premier rooms and up, these rooms are big enough to accommodate 4 in one room, best service in town and kids are treated like royalties too 14) Phoenix - right next to Somerset MRT, location is ideal for those who wants Orchard Road location 15) YMCA International - family rooms are of a good size, comfortable for a family of 4 16) Strand - budget no frills hotel, close to all amenities (food court, MRT, attractions like Chimjes, Raffles hotel, etc), hotel offers rooms big enough to accommodate 7 ! 17) Quality Hotel - this hotel had gone thru major works and is now a pretty good choice for a group (family or friends) staying in a reasonably priced hotel in a local neighborhood yet not far from town (offers complimentary shuttle to nearest MRT or Orchard) 18) Hotel 81 Bencoolen - 2 queen beds in their family suite (location is pretty good) 19) CityHub - 2 queen beds available (listed as premier rooms) in this reasonably priced newish hotel (2008), room sizes begin at 20 sq m (largest room happens to be a suite and is at 30 sq m)
Please note : not all rooms in each hotel have 2 double beds so when u make ur reservation, please specify and ask for those rooms (they may be a higher category room rather than the basic rooms). Also, u might want to check out the serviced apartments offered by some of the local hotels (listed below) for other options. |

|
|
4. mid-range hotels :
|
|
1) Allson - rooms are at 28 sq m
2) City Bay View - normal rooms begin at 26 sq m and next one up at 30 sq m, family rooms and other suites are at 46
3) Carlton (very good value for money for what u get, Premier wing is execellent)
4) Grand Plaza Park Royal - rooms are at 32 sq m
5) Grand Copthorne Waterfront
6) Copthorne King's
7) Holiday Inn Atrium
8) Furama City Center - 32 sq m rooms and suites except club/executive rooms at 65
9) Hotel Re - cool funky hotel, fun atmosphere, in the Chinatown area, priced well, my only complaint - room size is too small (14 sq m) but if u r looking for a clean and nice quality hotel that is priced reasonably, this is a good choice
10) CityHub - newish hotel in town, modern contemporary design, Bugis neighborhood so a good base if u want to explore the city
11) Santa Grand Little India -> to be revealed 1st Feb, pricing at about S$175/nite (there seemed to be a better rate but for single travelers)
12) York - last renovated within the last 2 years, basic rooms at 27 sq m, deluxe at 32 and suites at 50 sq m
13) Quality - Jan 2009 update : if u have a Malaysian passport, highly recommend their special deal, u cant beat this for the quality at this price !
14) Ibis @ Bencoolen -> to be launched in in March 2009
15) ParkRoyal @ Beach - rooms at 30 sq m
16) Novotel Clark QUay - basic rooms at 28 sq m
17) Santa Grand Bugis - good location with a nice pool area, will be revealed mid 2009
18) ParkRoyal at Kitchener - 2008 renovation had changed this hotel into a crowd pleaser. If u enjoy being in an ethnic neighborhood and dont mind a short walk (few mins) to an MRT, this is a great choice, dont expect fancy details but what they offer is definitely good value in SIN for all the upgrades they had done |
|
|
|
5. Budget (most have no or limited facilities/amenities like a pool, gym, etc)
|
|
1) Summerview - basic rooms
2) Perak Lodge - nice, cozy family atmosphere, rooms r tiny beginning at 15, 17, 18 and finally deluxe rooms at 20 sq m
3) Bencoolen - clean and basic in Little India neighborhood, some rooms had been updated/renovated (Last Updated Nov 2008)
4) Rider's Lodge - property itself lacks facilities but u can use the pool at the club, not much difference in room size from deluxe to grandeur rooms (22 and 23 sq m respectively) but suites are very comfortably sized at 62 sq m
5) Strand (good location and price for budget hotel but no frills, bring your own toiletries, family rooms can accomodate up to 7)
6) Copthorne Orchid - just on the outskirt of town, quiet and amazing last minute deals, apartments available, hotel room with a kitchenette
7) Penang - basic clean rooms
8) Hotel 81 (red light district of SIN is Geylang so some of the addresses here might not be what u r looking for)
9) Fragrance same as #8 (except I want to add that if u want a budget hotel that has a pool, go for Fragrance Selegie, it is also a new property in 2008)
10) Damenlou - simple rooms but very friendly family run business
11) Four Chain - new in Geylang area (red light district)
12) Classique - quite a good find, in LIttle India, Strand's sister hotel, budget hotel but u get some extras included, average priced - S$70++
13) Beach - walking distance to the famous Raffles hotel and the neighborhood of Suntec and Marina as well as Arab Street
14) Regal Inn - right in Chinatown, Chinese decor and quite nice for a very good price (prices begins at S$70/nett for a double and a family room is only S$100/nett)
15) VIP - meet your basic needs and only one in town that offers a pool at this price, located in a quiet residential area, close to Newton Hawker Center
16) Happy - renovated in 2007 and VERY reasonably priced, good basic hotel but due to location (Geylang is known as a red light district but seriously it isnt that bad, a far cry from other Asian cities famous for such activities, in reality unless u really look out for it, u wont know it), it is not encouraged if u r traveling with little ones (u got to walk a lot as it is a local neighborhood but for any adult exploring a city, this is a good base)
17) Santa Grand Aljunied (formerly Sunwell hotel but it had a total facelift and interior renovation so should be a good choice, prices beginning at $99 and up)
18) Santa Grand Little India - opened in Feb 2009, small boutique property at a reasonable price (esp. their opening special is really amazing, see below for boutique/unique properties)
19) for those that are really just looking for a clean basic modern hotel that offers a REASONABLE price, try Value hotel Balestier (less than US$50/nite). It is a newly renovated hotel with contemporary furnishing that has just opened (updated April'09) |
|
|
|
6. Boutique (usually converted shophouses)/Unique properties
|
|
1) Scarlet - very romantic but small rooms, smallest being only 15 sq m, executive only a little bigger (anything from 16 1o 20 sq m!), premiums averaging 28 sq m and suites are of all sizes smallest being 25 sq m and biggest at 51
2) New Majestic - currently the trendiest (prices r reasonable for the quality)
3) Hotel 1929 - in Chinatown
4) Albert Court
5) Royal Peacock
6) Berjaya Duxton - european designs and decor, has a lived in comfortable atmosphere
7) Sha Villa - colonial mansion now a hotel managed by a local hospitality school, service is excellent (the students and supervisors are graded by their professors afterall !) and their restaurant serves a really good continental meal at an amazingly affordable prices but rooms are bare basic (no windows in some !) and rooms r tiny beginning at 18 sq m and next size is 20
8) InterContinental - this is not a boutique hotel but they do offer shophouse type of hotel rooms with Peranakan furnishing
9) Sloane Court - short walk to Scotts Road, Tudor in style, small family run business (was planning to take this off the list when I had heard how bad this place was after a friend's daughter had returned from a visit but I thought I will leave it here to warn travelers to stay away)
10) The Nutmeg - short walk to town, in a nice neighborhood in town (prices include airport transfers, breakfast and half day sightseeing)
11) Quincy - right next to Elizabeth and York hotel so location wise, it is good if u want to be on Orchard Road, sleek modern design, really cool glass infinity pool overlooking the side of the building (Launch date : Feb 2009)
12) Link - in a local neighborhood, may not be near an MRT (the nearest Outram is about a 10 min walk) but it is so close to town (orchard) with a few mins cab ride either to Chinatown or Orchard, cant beat the price for what u get if u dont mind NY hotel room sizes. To explore a local neighborhood, a good place to start
13) Naumi - really modern chic boutique hotel with international standards and quality, right next to the famous Raffles hotel, great corporate units (kitchenette, living room, etc all set out for ease and convenience), definitely the high end of boutique hotels but u wont regret it, my favorite boutique hotel in town, basic rooms at 32 sq m but suites begin at 50 and up
14) L Residence : http://lresidence.com/ (will update on further info., looking forward to visiting this property on our next trip, last updated Aug 2008)
15) Santa Grand Little India - Finally opened (feb 2009) and with such a great promotional rate, u cant beat this deal for a nice new boutique hotel (single S$70, twin S$98, Queen S$95 and executive is only at S$112, I am not sure when this promotional rate will end so contact hotel directly)
16) Nostalgia - newest (fall 2009) boutique in town and reflected in their pricing Last but not least, the Raffles hotel. This famous hotel is an all suite hotel that is great for those who desire a luxurious weekend or an experince that comes once in a blue moon - something memorable and unique. But if u have more than 2 days, I would recommend u try another hotel in town for a different experience. Raffles is a little stuffy/rigid if u plan to stay longer.
Thought I will add Fullerton and Goodwood Park in this category as they are also unique historical porperties in SIN. One was the original General Post Office while the latter was a country club (Teutonia Club) before converting into a charming colonial hotel as it is today. |
|
|
|
7. Hostels
|
|
1) YMCA International (cant beat location, facilities, size of room for this price range, this hostel has more of a hotel feel rather than the usual hostel feel as it has a rooftop pool and a gym. Location is right along Orchard Road and short walk to MRT) 2) YMCA Metropolitan (along Stevens Road, less than 10 mins to the main part of town along Orchard, apartment living available, this property is really quiet as it is in a high end residential neighborhood and the pool is good for those with little ones that need to be protected from the sun) 3) Hangout@Mt.Emily (trendy nice hostel) 4) New 7th Storey (fun and big) 5) Bugis Backpackers (popular) 6) Sleepy Sam's (another popular choice) 7) A Traveller's Rest Stop 8) Betel Box (also one of the better and popular hostel in town) 9) RELC (there is also a choice of private rooms which are good value for money if u dont mind walking a little before reaching town) 10) Summer Tavern - neat/cool place with a flair for modern and eastern furnishing (bathrooms and private rooms) and a fun pub 11) G4 station (new 2008) - largest hostel in this city with friendly staff |
|
|
|
8. Sentosa lodging
|
|
Sentosa Spa and Resort - really nice resort, quiet and usually on the quiet side, very suitable for couples, the private villas have their own private pool with 2 bedrooms on each side of a common living room with kitchenette
Rasa Sentosa - part of the Shangri la group, great for families as kids' camp programs are available (need advance notice).
Siloso Beach Resort - newish hotel on the island
Capella Singapore (managed by the Capella Group whose founder was the original owner and founder of the Ritz Carlton Chain so u can be assured of a certain quality) - opening 1st Quarter of 2009, will be the crown jewel of Sentosa resorts, largest garden villas and suites in SIN, ultra luxurious and private Update (Feb 2009) - It is opened ! The best and most luxurious resort on the island and currently running a promotion - buy 2 nights get 3rd free (till May).
Costa Sand - basic lodging
Amara Sanctuary - a brand new resort (Srping/Summer 2007) with upscale furnishing catering to those who wants to escape the city life for a short retreat, suitable for couples and honeymooners
Treasure Resort - Boutique hotel in a colonial building, convenient to get around the island due to location |
|
|
|
9. Bintan lodging
|
|
Banyan Tree - for those who want some pampering, really the place to be if u r on a honeymoon or want a romantic couple's retreat, a little more troublesome for those with families (young kids) as most rooms/suites take a max of 3 people (including kids)
Angsana - great hotel for everyone seeking a reasonable priced hotel that has a bit of luxury
Club Med - for parents who need a vacation
Mana Mana - for those who enjoy a full water sport adventure in a more casual setting (a change of management so there may be updates and changes) Indra Maya - Privacy ? this is the place for u but expect to pay for it. This property has only 14 beautiful villas (if u love Asian architecture, u will LOVE it here) and is away from all the big resorts (u can get around on a buggy). U have access to the facilites if u wish (but villas come with your own private pool) at Nirwana or Mayang. update Dec 2008 : For the price they are charging nowadays, I suggest that u wait and stay at the new Ritz that will be launched soon (this property needs some TLC to restore it to its original splendor)
Brand new resort - Ritz Carlton (Dec 2008 but still no further news of soft opening etc so maybe early 2009) in the Lagoi Bay area, due to bad economy this year, this project had been postpone |
|
|
|
10. Serviced Apartments (for travelers staying more than 7 days)
|
|
Ascott Group - quite a few properties to choose from and make a good choice for a base to get to know SIN 2008 : Introductory offer for S$320/nite (min. 3 nites) beginning July at the brand new Ascott Raffles Place (perfect location if u need to be in CBD)
Shangri La Group - Shangri La serviced apartments tenants can use the facilities and services from the Shangri La hotel
Fraser Group - Fraser Suites or Place, both cater well to families
Far East Group - different price range with quite a few choices of properties
Lanson Place - very convenient and nice apartments in town, short walk to Orchard
Le Grove - established and older property in a residential neighborhood
Lotus - a few all over the island
Treetops Executive Apartments - check my review but to summarize, it is my top choice if I am in SIN
CityState Service Apartments - restored shophouses converted into serviced apartments, great for those who are not keen on a hotel room and are looking for something different, right in the CBD area
HOTELS THAT OFFER APARTMENTS/1 OR 2 BEDROOMS, TRY : Traders Allson Goodwood Park - Park Lane Suites (check my review, it needs updating at the moment) Carlton - Premier serviced apartments Metropolitan Y - on Stevens Road (more for the budget conscious) Amara - this is a good business hotel if u want to be right there in the Central Business District and a stone's throw away from Tanjong Pagar MRT. This hotel offers comfortable one to two bedroom suites for long term residents. Quality Hotel - had just been updated and their family suite as well as executive suite is comfortable for longer staying guests, the presidential suite is an apartment ParkRoyal (serviced apartments) - part of the hotel Grand Copthorne Waterfront - known as La Residenza, a couple of floors had been converted into serviced apartments catering to long term business travelers (operation began in 2008) Naumi - great boutique hotel, definitely for the trendy and luxury conscious type of travelers, across the street from the famous Raffles hotel (my favorite for a boutique hotel in this city) Pan Pacific Serviced Suites (got an introductory rate 2008 at S$12,000/month)
For those who are searching for a more reasonably priced apartments, try budgetstaysingapore.com or valuestay.com.sg
And for those looking for a reasonably priced option for less than 7 days, try : acozyabode.com |
|
|
|
11. Hotels near the airport :
|
|
For those who are in a long transit (more than 6 hours) or has no wish to visit the city, u should consider staying at the Transit hotel which offers rooms at a 6 hour block, has a gym and a roof top pool.
For those who want to explore the famous Changi Airport (if u have more than 5 hours, u should really consider taking the complimentary 2 hour city tour) but need a little shut eye, try the napping areas for those very comfortable leather chairs or go to either lounge in the respective terminal. They have comfortable sleeping berths, offers massages and showers, snacks and drinks etc. at very reasonable prices
Le Meridien Changi Village - Choose this hotel if you want a proper hotel and you arrive late (after 10 pm) and flight is before 9 am (remember u have to check in 2 hours before) This hotel offers complimentary shuttles between the airport and hotel
Grand Mercure Roxy - a comfortable and reasonably priced hotel in a residential neighborhood. if u arrive after 8 pm and still want to see a little of SIN, this is your best bet (only 10 mins to town - Suntec area, another 5 mins or so to Orchard). This hotel also offers shuttle services to and from airport, rooms at 32 sq m (both superior and deluxe) and next up very very comfortably sized at 98 for executive rooms
Newest addition (2008) is the Crowne Plaza Changi (attached to Terminal 3) with a short walk to the Changi MRT station. Nice sleek contemporary design.
Cameron - budget boutique hotel, clean and meet all your basic needs with a very reasonable rate, even offer a few hourly rates for transit tourists |
|
|
|
12. Who to book with ?
|
|
Whenever I am going to SIN and only need a room with/out breakfast, the best site and prices usually come from asiabesthotel.com (excellent service). The next one I would look at if they dont have the specific hotel I need is marimari.com (a little slow on the service). There are other sites you can look and compare prices but so far, I have to say asiabesthotel.com is the best site for SIN hotels. Another one I find that has competitive pricing is asiatravel.com.
If you have a specified request (connecting rooms, 2 double beds, a suite, etc), u may want to check the hotel website to look for special deals and if not, u can always contact the hotel and negotiate a package esp. if u r staying for a period of time (longer than 7 days). These rates are called long term or resident rates that come with some perks (free local calls, breakfasts, etc)
Another thing about SIN hotels is that they have amazing prices for weekends so for those who are in town during a weekend period, these amazing rates are available besides the last minute rates. |
|
|
|
13. Honeymooners and those who r in the mood :)
|
|
Romantic hotels in town : 1) Scarlet - romantic setting esp. the decor in rich and dark hues of red but small rooms even their suites
2) Fullerton - if u can swing it, their loft suites are the ones to go for due to the view from the sitting room which is seperated from the bedroom (upstairs which makes it really cozy)
3) Raffles - great for a short stay for an anniversary or honeymoon memory
4) Shangri La - the one property that has a resort feeling in this city, great little touches for honeymooners and offers honeymoon packages
5) Marriott - only their pool side suites are worth a stay in this property and these rooms are the ones that offer a great experience
6) Grand Hyatt - for the couples who are looking for fine dining, lots of shopping and a great pool with the best gym facilities in town
7) Four Seasons - for those who seek discreet luxury with the best service in town
8) Oriental - for those who want a great view and a hotel that does a good job blending Eastern decor in modern setting and comfort
9) Raffles Plaza, now aka Fairmont Singapore - if u like modern sleek design, this is the hotel for u, it is also reflected in their rooms that come with a view (city or harbor)
10) Ritz - spacious rooms with a great bathroom that has amazing view that makes a bubble bath for two a great experience and getting up from the raised bed to see the view right from your bed without getting up is another joy with your partner
For those who want a little more privacy, try these :
1) Sentosa Spa and Resort - top rated spa in SIN, a must for the special someone, the whole resort has an atmosphere that is great for honeymooners, the restaurants, etc. Tip : the normal/basic rooms had been updated only recently but if u can afford it, the private villas with its own pool (not a plunge pool but a good size one that u can easily invite a few friends to swim in !) will definitely make it an amazing honeymoon
2) Amara Sauctuary - brand new stylish resort for those seeking modern lifestyle luxuries
3) Capella Singapore - Balinese villa settings, spacious, open and luxurious with modern touches in all suites and villas (opening 1st quarter 2009) |
|
|
|
14. hotels with a view ...
|
|
City View - this is easy enough as most properties in town are tall city hotels (except Shangri La and Goodwood, both has a resort feel due to the large parcel of land that is very rare in this town and the lush landscaping) so if u choose Raffles Plaza, Meritus Mandarin, Marriott, etc, u will be enjoying a nice city view.
Harbor/Marina views - Conrad, Ritz, Marina Mandarin, Oriental, Fairmont Raffles, Swissotel Stamford, M hotel (I had included this here even though they classified it under sea view rooms)
River view (right by the water) - Fulllerton, Novotel Clark Quay, Grand Copthorne Waterfront
My favorite view of the river - Fullerton's Loft Suite (top choice for romance and view )
Favorite harbor view rooms - Fairmont Raffles (postcard views - u will find the same view from some of the postcards that are on sale at the bookstores or tourist shops)
Favorite city view - Fairmont Raffles (esp. towards Chimjes and Orchard Road's direction)
Brand new hotel (Mar '09) is the Park Hotel Clark Quay which offers a view of the river esp. the club rooms on the 9th and 10th Floors. Trendy is the theme, classified as boutique (but with over 300 rooms, it feels like any city hotel, not a boutique). Running a promotion at the moment (updated April09) so check it out, worth the $ for this nice new hotel. I love the designs and color themes. |
