1. Universal Studios Orlando
Although its not a theme park, what it lacks in amusements it makes up for in entetainment and dining. Good restaurants, street music and shows, and great for people watching. I am a philly girl, and we are well know for our cheese-steaks, but let me tell you, at Finnegans Restaurant in Universal, that was a cheesesteak to die for. It was fantastic! Sorry Philly, it was the best I've had ever!
2. Citywalk at Universal
We loved this place. It was the place to hang out after a long day of exploring the parks. We were sorry to see the Motown Cafe go, but there are great places to unwind such as, Bob Marleys for a little reggae, CityJazz for a combination of everything and they have a great dance floor, Margaritville for fun and good food. There are othe venues here, but these are our top 3. I also want to add that Citywalk hosts a great New Years Party. So far we have gone two NYE events and we had a good time. Plenty of food to eat, live entertainment inside and outside of the clubs, along with party favors and champagne toasts at midnight. We do plan to attend another event in the future.
3. Universal's Islands of Adventure
What can I say about this place but fantastic. From the comic book themes, to the super-hero decor and rides, this place is great. My husband and I were like two teenagers zipping from one ride to the next, with him being the more adventurous one, and we had a ball! There are also neat little places to escape from the madness of the rides for some downtime, you just have to find your way. I am not as adventerous as my husband some of the rides I opted out of, but instead I enjoyed walking around the park, finding a place to sit. I enjoyed a cool drink and snack while people watching and he enjoyed riding the Hulk multiple times. Since we had our mobilel phones, it was easy to catch up to one another.
4. AMC Universal Cineplex
After a long weekend of amusements, dining, and entertainment, there is no better way to end it but by taking in a movie at the Universal Cineplex. Its huge theater right at the entrance to the park and there are enough movies playing that you are sure find something. We made sure there was enough time between check out and our flight time to catch a 90min-2hr movie. Its a great way to relax, unwind and prepare for the trip home.
5. Lone Palm Bar and Univeral Studios
The reason that I choose to list this place, because in addition to the Movie Theater, this is also a great place to stop after a movie and have a cool tropical drink, and reflect on your getaway. The atmosphere and views of the park area is great and a nice way to end it all, and they make very good drinks.
6. AmeriSuites Orlando Universal

Ave price: $119
This hotel is in a good location; walking distance to parks, clean comfortable, spacious rooms, and a C+ breakfast to get the day started.
7. Epcot Center
Although the main focus of our trip was Universal, we also added an extra day to visit Epcot. We planned to spend the entire day there, and we did. You can either take a shuttle from your hotel (fee) or a cab. Keep in mind the shuttle will stop several times to pick up people at different hotels. This is not a 1/2 day trip, expect to spend a full day. The park is worth a 1st time visit, but we will probably not visit again anytime soon.
Good food, fun atmosphere!! Tip: If the lines are long, eat at the bar!!! There is a full menu, and the bartenders will make you a very good drink while you wait!
