Slovenia's poster child, like something from a fairy tale. Beautiful blue lake with a teardrop island in the centre topped by a picturesque church, the whole thing overlooked by a clifftop castle. Take a boat trip to the island, ring the bell in the church, and enjoy the vanila slices on the mainland!
Stunningly attractive, unspoilt lake. Beautiful reflections, clear, clean water perfect for swimming. Great walks in surrounding mountains, plenty of adventure activities in area. Visit the splendid Savica Falls, take the cable car up Mount Vogel, and walk along the Mostnice gorge.
Impressive fortress set inside a giant cave. The guided tour is informative and worth taking.
Unbelievably impressive - these should feature in every geography textbook! Have to be seen to be believed, no one could fail to be struck with wonder.
Sweet little seaside town, feels more Italian than Slovenian. Great ice cream, interesting churches.
Attractive and compact capital city. Easy to walk around, felt very safe and welcoming. Good cafe life. Franz Preseren square is central point, visit the castle for good views. Worth a day or two's stay.
