Best Restaurants in Maui

30 Dec 2006  Honeymoon and vacation in Maui
3.0 of 5 stars based on 7 votes

Two trips to Maui, including out honeymoon, and we are set to go back just for the food. Here's a list of our favorite places for "ono" delights!

  • Explore locations featured in this Trip List: Paia, Lahaina, Ka'anapali

  • 1. Mama's Fish House
    Mama's Fish House, Paia, Maui

A must-do for any traveler to Maui! Mama's serves the freshest fish on the island, so fresh the menu states the fisherman that caught the fish, what boat they were sailing and where it was caught. Definitely make reservations in advance if you want a coveted sunset reservation by the window. And arrive early...the cocktails are delightful!

  • 2. Old Lahaina Luau
    Old Lahaina Luau, Lahaina, Maui

For entertainment and great food, the Old Lahaina Luau is a must! Reserve in advance and request the traditional seating if you don't mind sitting on cushions on the ground. It's comfortable and you'll have the best seat in the house for the show.

  • 3. CJ's Deli & Diner
    CJ's Deli & Diner, Ka'anapali, Maui

If you are staying in Ka'anapali, don't waste your money on the hotel's breakfast buffett, but come to CJs instead, where you'll be treated to the most reasonable prices on the island with great home-cookin' eggs, waffles, pancakes, etc... It also seems to be convenient for takeout if you're doing the Road to Hana, though I can't say for sure.

  • 4. Tropica
Tropica Restaurant & Bar, Lahaina, Maui

Although it's a bit pricey (though no pricier than other fine dining establishments in the area), it's worth the convenience and the flavor if you're staying in Ka'anapali. This restaurant is located at the Westin and is surprisingly scrumptious for hotel fare. The Opakapaka was one of my favorite meals and the satay skewers come served over a flaming dish. Delicious!

  • 5. Pacific'o Restaurant
    http://www.pacificomaui.com/

Although this isn't right int he heart of downtown Lahaina, it's worth the extra blocks you'll have to walk...especially if you are going to partake in a delicious dessert. You won't get much closer to the water, as this Pacific Rim restaurant is right on the beach and serves fresh food presented in innovative ways. High marks for the filet kabob appetizer!

  • 6. Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar
Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar, Lahaina, Maui

Definitely the best sushi restaurant in town. Only problem is that everyone else thinks so too. Make reservations in advance to experience some unique sushi combinations and so you can tell all your friends that you went there too.

  • 7. Honokowai Okazuya Deli
    http://www.mauihawaii.org/restaurants/okazuya.htm

Great takeout that's worth the small detour from the main road in Ka'anapali. Though the ambiance leaves something to be desired (it's really a small take-out joint with a couple chairs), it's the perfect place to order up some Teriyaki and go sit on the beach for a delicious lunch with an amazing view.

  • 8. Leilani's On The Beach
Leilani's On The Beach, Lahaina, Maui

Maybe it's not the finest dining in town and perhaps the food could taste a little fresher, being that the restaurant is mere steps from the beach, but the location can't be beat. This is a perfect spot right on the corner of Whaler's Village and the ocean - perfect whether you've been shopping or snorkeling at the Black Rock.
