Points of Interest

1. Grassland

In order to help stabilise the soil, the grassland was sown with wildflower seeds. A mixture of 31 species were sown along this peaceful patch; within the assortment you may see the rare spider orchid, spotted orchids or yellow wort.

2. Sea view

To get a better views of the sea, you can access a higher terrace on the sea wall via the ramp. You can remain on this terrace for about a mile before another ramp allows you to descend back to the lower level.

3. Viewpoint

Looking east towards Dover, the furthest cliff is known as Shakespeare's cliff.It was thought to have inspired the passage in King Lear, 'there is a cliff, whose high and bending head looks fearfully in the confined deep.'

4. Wildife

Look out for some of the 208 bird species which enjoy the site, including the ground-nesting pipits and skylarks. 30 species of butterfly have also been recorded on the site, while adders and common lizards roam the grassland.
