1. Trailhead

The trail starting point is located at the central square of the village and 100 meters away from the free parking lot and the city bus terminal. There is a church at one end of the square in the name of Agios Athanasios and a traditional fountain at the other end with high quality water coming directly from the Springs of "Kria Vrisi". ... 2. Agios Athanasios church

Agios Athanasios is a Christian Orthodox church, built arround 1960 to replace the old one that was destroyed by the strong earthquakes in 1954.

3. Free parking area

There is a free parking lot by the central square and the bus terminal, ten kilometers away fron Volos and 6 kilometers away from the nearby village of Portaria.

4. Traditional fountain

It is located in the central square and was built hundreds of years ago by the Turks.There is a marble plaque on it, inscripted in Turkish which has not been trnslated so gar. The water is coming directly from the Springs of "Kria Vrisi" located one kilometer away to the northeast.

6. Junction point

Go straight on the way to Portaria. You make a left turn to follow the trail to Makrinitsa.

8. Monastery of Evagelismo Theotokou

It is a female Christian Orthodox monastery built around early 90's to replace the old one that still exists at the southern outskirts of the village. Open to the public. Free parking lot available within its premises.

9. Road to Portaria-Makrinitsa

Here is the end of the trail. You go to the right along the esphalted road to get to Portaria center or you go to the left to get to Makrinitsa.
