Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Would give a zero if possible. This place is a hellhole. The place is nothing like advertised or in photos. The staff member had very poor English, was arrogant and insisted on an extra fee although we'd paid over $1,800 already on booking.com. She was very keen to get our credit card details which were different from the card we booked with. The foyer had very bad mold/dust mite problems and both me and my travel partner were very itchy immediately upon entering and found it hard to breathe, my friend had to go outside twice. The staff member had no-one else to attend to so had no reason not to show us our room as we requested and is our legal right. Instead she insisted we hand over our credit card details before she'd even show us any rooms. We told her three times that the premises were very dirty and asked each time if we could inspect the room, but she wouldn't permit it unless we gave our credit card details, and also insisted on a further $150 'security fee' which wasn't advertised at the time of booking. We refused to give her our credit card until we were shown the room, so then she refused any further service and insisted that we leave the premises (holding the door open for us until we left) - thus leaving us with nowhere to stay and them with over $1,800 of our money. We still haven't received $1 back, and whoever emails us is very rude and aggressive and calls us names, including 'liars,' which is a 100% unsubstantiable statement, as she wasn't there to witness anything that was said or done. In light of the reviews I'm glad we didn't give them our credit card details, she seemed too keen to get them from us and there was no legitimate reason as we'd already paid them over $!,800 and were only asking to see the room (as we were worried it'd be a dirty as the foyer). These people give Sydney a bad name and know nothing about customer service. They seem friendly until there's even the smallest problem, then turn into very aggressive and rude characters with no provocation. I hope The Dept of Health closes them down and will be referring a complaint to them. DO NOT BOOK HERE - THEY TOOK $1,800 AND WE DIDN'T STAY 1 NIGHT OR EVEN GET TO INSPECT THE ROOM.

This woman commits credit card fraud, do not stay here! She is a thief and a liar. She clearly has mental health issues and liars, she will come to you and tell you that you can have a free late check out because no one is booked in then charge your card. She will claim your room has been double booked when you arrive(somehow this is your fault, not hers) she will then put you in another room then charge your card for extra...all of the charges made after you have left! There is no advisement of extra charges, she is just a common thief! The 'hotel' is horrible and the vile woman seems like she is on drugs. Avoid at all cost and save your money and time. I would give no stars if I could, I don't know how the authorities let her stay open! I have reported her to the police, my bank and trading standards.

DO NOT STAY- THEY ARE THIEVES. I stayed here after booking through Booking.com, my friend had already paid $240 through her account. This was the total amount for our stay. On arrival they said they needed a Credit Card on record, so I handed mine over. After we had checked out $240 was then taken from my account, followed by another $85. At this point we got in touch with them, the rude woman on the phone said to email but refused to give an email address and put the phone down. She then did not answer the phone again, and has not returned the numerous emails and voice messages that we have left wanting a refund and an explanation of this theft. We have been in touch with the police regarding this criminal behaviour. The hotel is NOTHING like the photos or description. They advertise free WiFi but when you get there tell you that it is down. We had 3 nights booked, it was not fixed in this time. When we arrived, the woman told us our room had been booked by someone else who arrived before us, so she'd given it to them instead. So we were put into a different room without the balcony that we had paid for. It is smelly and gross. The place is old and dilapidated. If you want a drug den, then this is your place! If you want decent, honest people and a nice place to stay then avoid this hellhole. Do not give this vile business your money, and definitely do not hand over any credit card details.

We did 2 months of travelling in budget accomendations in Australia and this was by far the worst stay. Initially we were given room no 2 which smelled so bad that we were in doubt that it was healthy, bad mouldy smell. No windows in the room to try to get the ripe stench out. Got moved to room 10, which did only had the same ripe smell in the bathroom. With no aircon we had to sleep with open windows, but the street became very noisy at 5 am so this was not good for sleep. On top of this we got about 10 moskito bites - that's what you get for sleeping with open windows. This is a worn down hotel that needs renovation now !!!!

when we arrived they charged us $ 150 AUD apart from the $ 171 we paid for the 2 day stay, the person who answered us at check-in told us that the money would be returned at the time we checked out, which never happened . After a few hours we called the hostel and the person who answered us on the phone had a horrible attitude saying that we are lying and that we are talking nonsense, he spoke to us in a very aggressive way, when we were simply asking for clarification regarding the money back

We decided to try this place again for NSW Labour weekend holiday. It is a absolute dump. Sally (Manager ???) seems to a few mental problems. Abuses everyone incl the staff (1 man) who I think also stays there. He does his best but she swears & abuses him constantly. Cords running everywhere for supposed upgrade. Dirty tatty carpets. Beds uncomfortable & not clean. Smelly. Room wasn't ready for check in. Sally lies that someone else had taken the key. They were overbooked. Any excuse not to get out of bed as she also lives there. How can this happen in a small hotel ??? Its not worth $5.00. Five dollars. Don't stay here if you want your holiday ruined. Even a dormitory in a backpackers lodge is much, much better.

Stayed here last July should have reviewed it sooner as the latest reviews have the same theme. Nothings changed. Three flights of stairs The guy at reception was very helpful but reception was not always open. one poor tourist had a car and had no idea where to park till reception turned up even after ringing several time to no answer. The façade looks nothing like the pictures. Our room looked like where they stored excess furniture. The Balcony is like 2 foot wide the shower was mouldy and the double bed was pressed against the wall. The place needs a lot of work new beds repair shower screen better layout and clean all the mould. If you cant find another hotel in this area go to another area. not worth even $20 a day. Second worst hotel we ever stayed in

I had booked into this room. When I arrived I saw a family of 5 waiting in the reception. They told me they left their key in the room the PREVIOUS night when they went to get some food. When they returned to the hotel the owner had locked the front door. as they tried to call for hours no one answered the phone. This family of 5( 2 small children) then had to walk the streets looking for another hotel. They did not get a chance to change clothes nor enjoy the room they had paid for. I asked a girl there where a toilet is. So I used the rest room on hotel premises. The owner then came out of a room and accused me of trespassing. I told her I had booked a room(already paid)and that no one was at reception to let me in my room so i had to use the toilet. She told me I could not stay there and that If i wanted a refund I was to call booking.com.I was furious. the Brazilian family also were very disappointed as this lady was just in a back room and totally ignored her customers. this poor family had waited to retrieve their belongings for almost a full 24 hrs. This is very unprofessional and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who just wants to come to Sydney and have a relaxing time

We booked last minute for a long weekend in Sydney... imagine almost no availability in whole Syd... only 6 places where the prices didnt drop the 3000$ for 3 nights, and then you had this Holiday Lodge for 500$... now I understand why ... walking in with my family there was so embarrassing didnt actually know what to do. The neighbourhood is unbelievable nice and posh and then you see this place and you start thinking you are in a horror movie. My fault as if it had 6.5 starts in booking.com didnt think was going to be this bad. The rooms smell like cat piss, mold and humidity... not aircon or good ventilation although we were lucky and they place a fan inside the room. Mum was quite sick with flu and coughs, staying with that humidity didn’t help her at all. The toilets are horrible! Mold everywhere like it hasnt been clean but the dirt is probably stuck in there forever. The receptionist is super sweet and nice, she is the housekeeper as well. The manager who is the owner I am pretty sure (blonde lady), should consider close down the place or make a serious make over to the whole “hotel”. If you dont take care of your guests, you will never succeed on your hotel. Wish you all the best, but we will never return.
