Hotel near the airport. The surrounding is not safe, if you have to go out use the car. The hotel have a private parking. A swimming pool is also available . The room is an apartment with kitchen, find your room is not easy. Only sudafrican electrical plug, an adapter is required. In the hall the silence is imposed. Wifi work but is difficult to access.

2nd time here while waiting for a late night flight. Short drive to airport so for distance it's a 5. Both times the hotel was clean but unfortunately both times the kitchen didn't deliver! There was either no buns (1st time) or patties (2nd time) for burgers or no bread for toasted sandwiches( 2nd time and no chips so they substituted with onion rings...ice cold and the patty for steak but it was slobbish and unappetising. And quite a wait! The front desk desk are always nice whether on the phone or in person so 5 for them also. Oh...and there was a lot of noise; admittedly it was during the day but I wanted to get a snooze in because I'd not slept the previous night and was traveling. A shout out for the taxi driver they make use of....very reliable and trustworthy.

It is a standard 3 star, not much to expect. I went at the beginning of winter, the rooms are very cold, no heating is offered. The restaurant is so basic and the only staff not too eager in my opinion. I had breakfast and he said there was no milk and no butter. for R50 i expected at least butter! Also, he overcharged on a meal. The lady at the bar also inflated our bill by R100! On the rooms - they were clean and cleaned daily. The TV is quite dated - they really need to replace this. Also, a fresh coat of paint will do good. The positives, the receptionist is a very plesant lady and gives a big smile to lighten up the place. It is also very close to the airport - about 7 mins away and makes for a good stay when travelling.

OK, so let's start with the 'not-so-nice stuff'. Look, it is what it is. It's a 3-star (at best), hotel that was converted from apartments into a 'suite' experience hotel. It's cheap as chips, so with that in mind you're obviously not going to expect anything flash. The towels, while clean, could certainly do with being replaced. Overall, a fresh coat of paint would not hurt and the kettle was abysmal - we actually ordered our own kettle from 60/60 - the one in the room had not been descaled in...well, ever. It's very basic accommodation, the telephone in the room didn't work and the extractor above the stove was diabolical. Now, for the good stuff. The staff are AMAZING. So friendly and super helpful, check-in was breezy and even though we arrived a full 2 hours early, we hardly had to wait for our room to be ready. Aside from what I already mentioned, the room itself was SPOTLESS and that made up for the 'niggly' bits. The location is great, just a few minutes from the airport and close to the areas we had business in. Honestly, for what one pays for this place, there are no complaints. You can order from 60/60/ Uber Eats/Mr Delivery and there is a restaurant on site - although we didn't order from them, we left early and came back fairly late so it was just simpler to order in - and they delivered to the room. So all in, if you're not in Jozi for a holiday, then this place is kind of ideal. Internet was fast enough and complimentary and as we literally only used it as a base for our dealings in the big city, it was more than adequate.

On booking my accommodation a month earlier and specifying a non smoking room was put in a smoke stinking room, asking for a non smoking room I was moved down stairs to a room with no burglar bars right next to the washing line and very noisy from the neighboring building. Was very disappointing as I was travelling solo and didn't feel very safe as there was a lot going on outside my bedroom window during the night. No electricity from 12h00 till well after 21h00 with no offer of even a candle to have a bit of light in the very dark rooms. The porter was the most helpful of all the staff on duty and was very helpful. Had very rowdy group on the 3rd floor that i could still hear even after i moved rooms after I was assured that by 20h00 they would be told to calm down!!

I stayed there for 3 days. The Hotel along with its room was very Good. The best thing is that, its very near to the airport. The Staff was also very Co-operative. Food available in the Restaurant was not that good (I might be wrong because Being Vegetarian, I tried only the veg Dish).

No water on arrival. This was a municipal issue and not a fault of the hotel. The remote for the Aircon had no batteries and despite bringing this to the attention of housekeeping, nothing was done about it. The bedside lights did not work. When I called reception to complain, I was told that it could only be dealt with the following day. I returned to the hotel at 12h00 on the Saturday and wanted to take a shower but there were no towels. When I reported this to reception I was told that they had not been returned yet. Not sure where they had gone as I had hung them on the towel rail which is generally accepted as not requiring them to be laundered. Reception was really unhelpful. It was only when I went to reception and threaten to leave the hotel that the problem was resolved. The hotel is well priced, it could be a good option if the attitude towards service was improved.

Location is very near to the airport which makes it convenient and not rushing if you have a morning flight. Using UBER, it cost around 60-70 rand. Lower your expectation when you are only sleeping for a night. Room is generally spacious for one to two persons. The room is generally clean and looks comfy. Pillow quality is not that good. They do provide 4 pillows even I am staying alone thus not that bad for me but I can’t imagine if I only have 2 pillows of that quality, my sleep would not be great. Bathroom is spacious. Bathtub is a bit small. Perhaps because of my height. Not much complaint though. I did not use the kitchen except for boiling water. Looks quite equipped for light cooking. Does not provide detergent though (thus I chose not to do even simple cooking for my dinner). If you can, just walked about 10 minutes to the nearby McDonalds or across the McDonalds you can find a nice pizza place and KFC. You can get some groceries there too if you wanted some cooking ingredients or bread for the next day. TV is really small and old model. If possible do upgrade the TV to at least be able to link to internet (since there is wifi) as the channels are quite limited. A 40” TV is good enough and would be good to have one in the room too. Room has no aircon thus will have to depend on the aircon in the living room. If you closed the door to sleep, most likely the room ends up a bit stuffy. Had to open the door when I sleep. Good thing about this place is having a lot of power sockets all around to charge electronic devices. Staff wise the service can be improved. They are not unfriendly but could have more initiative to provide wifi password and information on the cafe operating timings etc instead of waiting for me to enquire. Overall, my own feel is that this place is alright if you needed just one night to stay due to late flights in Johannesburg and having to go off another flight the next morning. If you need more than one nights then it depends how much time you would be staying inside the room. For those who loves to stay inside the room for relaxing, I am quite sure this would not meet your needs. Hope above is helpful for travellers who are looking for accommodation near to Tambo. Cheers :)
