Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Been in a few times not to eat but whilst wandering around the town stopped for a drink. Won't be going again. Sat and had two drinks 1 vodka tonic & 1 gin and tonic €13.60 a bit steep to say the least especially as we'd been charged €6 for a gin tonic day befor this time it was €8 !!!!!😡😡😡😡😡

We stayed for the majority of our visit to menorca in this hostal and found it great. It's quiet, clean and simple - nothing flashy but perfectly adequate. The rooms with views over the pool, whilst more expensive, offer the better outlook. The location is in central fornells and this provides an excellent base for discovering the island. Carlos and the team were very pleasant - polite and helpful. The continental breakfasts were ample too. Perhaps a little pricey but this is to be expected in high season. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Found this on tripadvisor and were really pleased to have done so. Great location (in centre of village) and value for money. The rooms and bathrooms are large and clean, the staff are friendly, breakfasts are good (particularly as included in the room price), nice pool. Only minor complaint - the beds are a bit squeaky, but comfortable nevertheless. Very quiet in October, only a habdful of rooms occupied, but weather was still great (25-26C), good time of the year to visit Menorca.

The guidebooks say that this is the best accomodation option in town and I'm sure it is. Fornells is beautiful and the perfect destination for foodies. There are some fabulous (and very pricey) restaurants, so I am surprised that there aren't any better accommodation options yet. However, better to protect Fornells against any development, as this would risk spoiling the village. Definitely recommend going for the most expensive rooms as they have fantastic balconies overlooking the pool and down to the harbour. I do think the rooms are overpriced though and the hostal charged me more than the published rate on the website for the season. The rooms are basic in terms of decor and facilities, but you can't beat the location.

I only hope that by reviewing Hostal Fornells it does not suddenly result in an explosion of visitors. It is a place to be cherished, not for its luxury but because of its simple charm and peaceful environment yet is right in the very heart of this pretty fishing/sailing harbour. The hostal has a small but delightful swimming pool where sitting out resting or relaxing after a day touring the countryside can be so relaxing. With a drink in hand what more do you need!! Once discovered this is a place most visitors seem to frequently return to. We ourselves have now been back for a fourth time and that does not mean that we are unadventurous but just relish the chance to wind down in such a pleasant environment. As Fornells has no direct beach it means that young children are not overly in evidence but for more mature discerning travellers the town is perfect. Fornells seems lived in by locals who all welcome visitors to their town where it is so pleasant just sitting out in the evening at one of the few bars facing the harbour people watching as the sun goes down on such a peaceful scene. Many varied restaurants are immediately on tap and includes one or two of very good quality and ambience without being extravagant. If you feel like a peaceful relaxing break look no further.

I'm very pleased to nominate and review this hotel - it really is excellent. Don't be put off by the hostal name - it's a modern clean and simple small hotel - which is as good as many boutique hotels we've stayed in. Fornells is a beautiful traditional fishing village - a bit classier than other resorts in Menorca. On arriving by car, it's best to park on the front in the harbour car park other wise you'll be driving round and round the village like we did looking for it! it's on a pedestrianised street one back from the seafront, but you can request a sea view room like we did. The staff are wonderful, really helpful and friendly, a nice contrast to chain hotels where check in can be a formality - here you're treated like an old friend. There seemed to be quite a few Brits staying here when we did. The room was simple, basic and clean and had a beautiful view of the whole village and port. There was no mini bar or fridge - which is why it's called a hostal I think. The pool was lovely and kept well clean. Breakfast was typical for a Spanish hotel, croissants, buns, coffee orange juice etc ( I think you could request eggs. ) There is also a little bakery next door that does lovely little pizzas & empanadas (pies) and a supermarket just down the road. For €85 a night in June, this hotel was a great find, and good value. There are so many restaurants in this little village, and all the ones we ate in were excellent - again a bit of a step up from normal tourist restaurants. Es Cranc (just turn left at the hotel and left again ) is the best in town - you'll probably need to book, as it is very busy. Justifiably so, we ate a very memorable meal there - a seafood caldereta (the famous lobster caldereta a little too much for our wallets) - a huge seafood broth with giant prawns, crab claws, clams etc and the most exquisite rice broth we've ever tasted! All in all a, few days in Fornells was one of the highlights of our trip and this this hotel has to be the best in town.
