My family have been visiting this location for over thirty five years in its various guises and seen it as one of Bangor best and sadly worst . It is nicely located on the edge of Bangor facing the harbour and is a great spot for a pint outside on a sunny day. Unfortunately it's Been a while since it served great food. If you get lunch it can be pretty hit or miss depending on your choice. On our most recent visit a quiet week day for lunch my wife and I both had fish sadly on this occasion despite overlooking the harbour with at least three fishing boats sat in it we chose the wrong dish. Both our fish were overdone mine was particularly dry. On previous occasions we have been happy so as I say it's pot luck. The staff were great and it's a nice enough atmosphere for lunch and because I love the location I will pop in every now and again usually just for a pint and perhaps one day I will be impressed again.

Top class hotel. After reading the other reviews I am frankly astonished that anyone could find any fault with this friendly cosy inn. The staff couldnt have done enough for us, the food was great and everywhere including our room was spotless. Would highly recommend this inn.

My party of four were in town for the under 19 rugby world champion tournament. We arrived to find that it was really a pub with a couple of extremely overpriced rooms. In my husband and my room I went into the shower to find that there was no cold water to add to the extremely hot water. When my husband called down he was told "oh I forgot, I will call a plumber". It was 7pm and I was naked. I had a bird bath. We went downstairs and were told we should change rooms (after my friend suggested this). Their idea of a breakfast was lame even for someone like myself who eats very little. Croissants were on the menu and 10 minutes after breakfast started they were out. 90 pounds per night was way too much for this very inadequate inn.thanks a well travelled Canadian

During our recent stay at the Bangor Bay Inn my husband and I had a good sized room overlooking Bangor Bay. Unfortunately this was the only good feature of this rather dingey little hotel. The reception desk is situated in the bar as are the toilets, and these contribute to the smells of cigarette smoke, stale urine and greasy cooking which are a feature of this hotel. The 'Ulster Fry' served at brekfast was of poor quality and badly cooked. At £90 per night b & b this hotel is very overpriced.
