One of the most authentic hotel experiences I’ve had: wonderful, thoughtful and cheerful staff; proper rooms with huge balconies looking out to the mountains; great restaurant with a beautiful selection of dishes. Everything is tuned down - not fancy, not loud, but so graceful and oldschool in the best meaning of this word. Very affordable comparing to other properties around Garda. If you want to top this up - the swimming pool is right at the premise and there is paragliding/handgliding workshop happenning on the field in front - facinating to watch and much recommended for trying.

Three of us stayed here as a base for a 10 night walking holiday, though it did concern us before we went that the last review was in June 2014! We did not have to worry though as the place is great. The owner, Massimo, looked after us all our stay, and the hotel is very clean, and the food is very traditional country fare,(we did not have one pizza!). A car is essential,we picked up one from Bergamo Airport, and did have a little difficulty finding the place though. If you are coming from the Milan side, the left hand turning you want up to the hotel ( which is a mile and a half) from the main road,is nearly opposite Ristorante Casino/Villa Capri which has an orange painted wall. The rooms are a fair size, and the pool is very inviting. Cost of half board is very reasonable and staff are very pleasant. Next to the pool is a landing field for hang gliders, adding a pleasant distraction to sunbathing besides the pool,as they appear over the mountains and slowly descend in circular patterns into the valley. Can recommend this as a great place to stay.

We have just returned from our second visit to this lovely family-run hotel in the hills above Gardone. We arrived late in the afternoon and were provided with a lovely lunch served on the patio, which was thoughtful. Our rooms were extremely clean with a gorgeous view of the mountains. The food was consistently excellent. The manager Massimo was very kind and friendly, and did everything he could to make our stay pleasant. We are looking forward to returning again :-)

As we write this review we are sat on the hotel balcony with a glass of the local vino rosso in hand having enjoyed a magnificant dinner. Our room is lofy and comfortable, views from the balcony of the hillside meadow and swimming pool are stunning. The area is enjoying unexpectadly warm weather for the time of year but the altitude reduces the tempature by a couple of degrees. The grasshoppers are singing their tuneless songs that fill the night air with a feeling of more tropical climes. Given the cost and rating of the hotel we consider it seriously under rated. Back home in the UK this would deserve a 3/4 star. Family run, laid back and comfortable, the hotel has everything. There is a lift to all floors so people with mobility issues would only have to use the back door rather than the steps to reception from the car park. The menu is traditional rustice Italian home cooking and very reasonably priced (almost too cheap!) A hidden gem. Well worth a visit anyday.

This is an attractive, tranquil, family-run hotel situated in the village of S. Michele, about 5km or so outside Gardone Riviera. The room we had was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a balcony overlooking the rear of the hotel and swimming pool. There was no air-conditioning, but the room was airy enough for this not to be a problem on a hot summer’s night. The buffet breakfast was reasonable enough. The owner, Massimo, speaks good English, and was always courteous and helpful. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. A word of warning. If you are driving from the direction of Riva, do not, as we did, rely on your SatNav for directions. It will get you there all right, but the village is high up, and you will be driving through some buttock-clenchingly narrow and steep roads. Better to follow the signs to S. Michele from the main road.

The hotel is approx 6km above Gardone and can be reached by car in about 10 to 15mins. Family run, this is a haven of peace and tranquility. Rooms, although not large, are clean and bright and most look over stunning countryside. The hotel has a wonderful pool which we had to ourselves during our 4 day visit in June. It has a great Restaurant if you do not want to venture out in the evening. We had 2 excellent meals here and went down to Gardone Sopra to eat for the remaining nights (10 min drive). We loved this place and will definitely be returning in 2012!

Colomber located in the great location, where you can enjoy a nature and mountain hiking... Very good tracks accompanied by waterfall. For travelers without a car can be a problem to get there from the center of Gardone Riviera, there are only few buses every day, the last one is around 6 p.m.. (Of course, you can take a taxi - 16 euro from the Gardone port). The rooms in the hotel looks little old, there is no air-condition, small TV with very few channels. Free Wi-Fi in the lobby. Overall, the hotel located in very beautiful and peaceful location!

This hotel was cheaper than most on Garda and we thought it gave excellent value. Our room was clean and reasonably spacious with a balcony and mountain views. Breakfast was fine - not an enormous variety but plenty to eat from a self-service buffet, and evening meals were simple but delicious. Service from the owner and his family was always friendly and attentive. The grounds and pool looked lovely but the latter was closed for the off-season when we stayed. The hotel is in a mountain village a steep drive a few kilometres up the hill from Gardone Riviera, an ideal starting point for mountain walks. There are other restaurants in the village if you want some variety.

We (my husband and two young kids) stayed here in peak season of August. However it was a haven of peace and tranquility. The pool in the garden just seems to go endlessly into the mountains. In fact on one day we watched some abseilers come from the top of the mountain to land by the side of the pool. The pool is fenced off so no worries with little ones. There is loads of room for games in the garden. We often wandered into the village bought some bread ham cheese tomatoes and had a picnic in the garden for lunch. There was also a bar/pizzeria within walking distance. One night we ate in the hotel restaurant and that was great too. It's simple cooking but homemade and local. The room we had did not have a balcony but a lot of the rooms do have with lovely mountain views. The rooms were spotless and very spacious. One day we walked down to the lake (about 30 mins) and caught the bus back up to the village. But the main thing which I loved about the hotel was the relaxed vibe of the place. It is family run and has been for 3 generations and the host is fantastic and we felt like we were staying in their home. Couldn't be more helpful. We had a fantastic week and the kids loved the pool and swinging chair in the garden.

If you are looking for peace, great home cooking and value for money in a friendly family-run hotel, then this is the place for you. We spent three nights at half board and always looked forward to our evening meal. The quality of the food was exceptional for the price and we had two outstanding local wines recommended by the proprietor. The room and hotel common areas are at the upper end of what you would expect at this price level and the lovely outdoor pool surrounded by mountains was a real treat. If you want a quiet location just ten minutes up from the lake front, then this is the place for you. The friendly and knowledgable owner also speaks excellent English.
