Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After I got my confirmation of reservation they still decided to cancel mine without my permission because they didn't agree with the price they put it out for anymore. (?!) now after this problem occurred, they were almost impossible to reach, and have now already put me on hold on the phone for 40 minutes! Scammers!

Pros: location good. Warm at night. Breakfast just ok. Cons: the location is good but totally not value for money!!! The reception guy was nowhere to be found. If you need something at night do a prayer because noone is there!!!! They change the towels every 3 days!! The biggest problem is the tiny shower. Wherever you turn you hurt yourself in the "walls" of the shower. Also the shower is attached to the wall and you have no option but wash your hair also everytime you want to just take a shower after long walking in the city. There is also noise coming from the other rooms and you cannot relax as much as you want! I should have seem trip advisor first because it looks like a fraud and I hope they dont take more money from my card. Also the owners copy paste answers in the complaints here make the situation worse...

The location is good so we booked the hotel through booking.com.. the hotel mgmt. overbooking and offerred us some small room somewhere else for one night (out of 3) then we got the 2 other nights at the hotel finally.. the toilet smells awful.. and so small shower cabinet.. This is in additional to when I wrote to them about it.. they replied to me with insulting using the f-word that I have escalated to booking.com and they are no longer dealing with them (you can try yourself on booking.com).

If you are looking for a simple room to simply rest then head back out into the city look no further. I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for hotel based rest and recoup. Pros: Location, Large bed, Friendly staff, Safe, Hostel happy hour, attentative to emails and cost effective. Cons: Poor water pressure and a small shower cubicle. I'm pretty slim but still kept knocking the tap off whilst washing my back which was annoying. TBF its on the top floor of an old building but a booster pump could still be installed. After a full days exploring you need a decent shower. The hostel/main reception can be seen from Roma Termini station. Its a 5 minute walk.

We stayed here for 5 nights when we visited Rome and it was brilliant. Linda and Steve and the rest of the Hotel Urbe/Beehive team are fantastic, always willing to help and answer and question that needs answering and the addition of their app was great for looking for dinner, attractions or just general information about the stunning city of Rome. The hotel is a stones throw away from Termini station which is the main station of Rome and made it easy to get to when coming from the airport or other transit options. There was also events held at the hotel for guests to be involved in such as wine nights and pasta cooking classes. We did the pasta making class which was fantastic and we can't wait to get home and try our skills out again. Hotel Urbe or any premises run by Steve and Linda, is your perfect base for any Rome stay as it's central, service is outstanding and it's cosy, comfy and homely. We will definitely return here when we visit Rome again. Thank you!

I had a sweet little room for 70 euro a night, and the breakfast was great. A very welcoming host and hotel, better than many I found later on my group tour. I highly recommend it, and I would gladly stay again.

I have recently stayed for one night and paid around 90 euros for a room which is good giving the good location but pricy considering that this 'hotel' is basically NOT AN HOTEL. The place itself consists in a house on a 5th floor of a building with 5/6 rooms in it functioning as 'hotel rooms'.As such, there is no reception and to take the keys and make the check in you will have to go in a nearby hostel. More importantly their is literally nobody overlooking the apartment. With regards to rooms, they are very clean and equipped with a nice bathroom, TV, ac, locker and clean linens however Wi-Fi is super slow and rooms are not sound proof. I have personally experienced noise coming from outside the street and from other guests. In short, this place has nothing of an Hotel and should definitely change its name into sharing apartment or something similar.

Response from Steve B, Owner at Hotel dell'Urbe
Responded 4 Sept 2018
Sorry you felt that way. The hotel is licensed as a 2 star hotel and by Italian law, we HAVE to have hotel in the name. We're not allowed to call it anything than the category of the license. The fact that we occupy only 1 floor is typical of hotels in this neighborhood that were originally "pensioni" in large buildings. As for the internet, I'm afraid that's totally out of my hands. We use the fastest service available. If it's not fast enough for you then it's an Italy issue, not our hotel's.

My mom and I stayed at Urbe for the first time and while we know The Beehive owners, who recently took it over would make it homey, we were super happy with the comfy beds (rare in Italy!), clean room, great location and the elevator, which meant we did t have to haul our luggage up stairs (typical in Italy)! The rooms are en-suite with bathrooms and it's just a block from the main Beehive location where we enjoyed yummy breakfast!

Myself and my girlfriend visited this charming hotel in late August for 4 nights. The double room was bright, neat and clean. The quiet balcony facing the back of the building was a really nice feature. The hotel is located 5 minutes from Termini Station which offers great connectivity around the city. The staff were very outgoing and friendly at the front desk, they took the time to offer us their personal recommendations for places to eat and points of interest. We were also hugely impressed by the mobile app for Hotel dell'Urbe/ Beehive. This app functions both online and offline and provides many great recommendations of logistics, restaurants, cafes, markets and sights. It would definitely be our first choice if we were to return to Rome.

Hotel Urbe is 5 minutes walk from the central train station, perfect for accessing the metro to the Colosseum, Vatican, etc. The room is tiny but didn't really matter, since we were out in the city most of the day/evening. The facilities were very clean and the staff also quickly handled a noise issue for me (room next to mine was playing music very loudly past midnight). The staff contacted the occupant and it was quiet a few minutes later!
