The Alvia is a five storey Victorian town house close to the sea and Queen's Park. It has been sympathetically refurbished and redecorated, and the recently re carpeted rooms, which are fully en suite, include flat screen TVs and tea and coffee making facilities.

Avoid this hotel at all costs, rang this company up today to discuss my booking for the 24/09, turns out they cancelled it with no confirmation. Now not answering for me to demand my refund! Disgusting!

Our family booked this hotel almost two months before arrival and later found that there is no reception at the hotel and in spite of repeated attempts we were not able to contact the property on phone . However they replied to one of our mails and informed us that two days before travel they will give instructions on check in etc and to our great disappointment we got a mail just before two days of arrival that they cannot accommodate us and hence cancelling our booking and no reason good given for this and even told us that the matter was referred to Expedia when we in fact booked through hotels.com. This is a con enterprise going on and visitors should AVOID this hotel at any cost unless you like to get a nasty and costly surprise .

We are very disappointed with this hotel. We have booked a room here about 2 months back. A day before our travel they cancelled our room. Highly unprofessional, no one should go through last minute hassle of more expensive hotel booking. So disappointed with the management of this hotel. If they can’t run a hotel, they should not fool others.

So my partner and I arrived at the hotel that looks nothing like the pics .. there was no staff at the hotel and when you ring the number it says , calls to this number at not possible from this area ?? .. then one of the guests informed us we need to go to a hotel down the road for our keys and check in .. at the next hotel we was sent to another hotel , so now at hotel no 3 on arrival we was informed by a poor speaking foreign lady our rooms was over booked by hotels.com ... ( not the case it was the hotel ) after 2 hours of trying to book in and witness many other guests arrive and also been overbooked , we called hotels. Com who felt with this in 10 min and had us booked in to a much better hotel . ... Power from the hotel and poor attitude-from the staff ... 1 star ⭐️ is to much …

We booked almost a year in advance as conference season is so expensive. They cancelled on us with no warning. It seems from the reviews that this is something they do quite frequently, so if you want to be sure you have somewhere to stay I would book elsewhere. I don't know re its cleanliness as we didn't get to stay, but I've rated it low as I think cancelling without warning is one of the most annoying things a hotel can do, so they deserve an overall low rating.

An unmanned hotel that is uncontactable. Our reservation was cancelled 10 minutes after 3pm( we were due to check in at 3pm). As the owner and the cleaners were attempting to make this dive look remotely hospitable, they had left the front door open. I found them and I asked what sort of 'business' were running. The very young and extremely unprofessional lad just shrugged and said I would have to call Hotels.com for my money back. No apologies,no explanation. I will tell you what happened. People were knocking guest house doors and offering cash to stay(it was a busy and hot bank holiday weekend in Brighton) This con man takes the cash and then cancels reservations(probably in the hope of the guest not attempting or not able to get their money back. We were lucky. Hotels.com helped and found us somewhere else. We will get our money back and actually we are so glad it happened in the end. From what I could see of the rooms and the staff(who couldn't get out of their quick enough and into a van, with the dirty sheets)we had a lucky escape. Book a room at Faulty Towers or Bates Hotel. If they are more professional.…

They could explain why they can now make 72 hour payments yet at the beginning was 7-10 days! AVOID

Avoid at all cost My reservation was cancelled with no explanation and no refund for the 3 rooms paid in advance in April. It is extremely difficult to contact the hotel. The phone number on website rings through and email ignored. Eventually got through to a mobile number on booking.com website to a rude member of staff who refused to provide explanation of why reservation cancelled and to reclaim money through booking.com even though the hotel charges me! Had to book another hotel and put in a payment dispute claim with bank

I booked this place in April 2019 for a conference in October in 2019. It was also my pre-honeymoon trip. I just got an email saying my booking has been cancelled. Only thing, I did not cancel it. So where's my money?! Good question. Do not stay here. They obviously just take your money, then cancel at will.
