Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel is just beautiful from the moment you walk in all the way to your room. Had a wonderful experience. Such great customer service by the front desk team as well as the valet team! We will definitely be back soon when out that way. Thank you!

Building was clean and the staff were excellent. 5 year old ordered $100 worth of movies we didn't watch and they waived the charge. We were there for the Shark's game so the location was perfect for walking to restaurant's and SAP center.

We enjoyed the proximity to the SAP center and the interior decor. This was the first time we could remember a front desk calling the room soon after check-in to make sure everything was as expected and we didn't need anything. The complimentary earplugs were a nice touch for being in the lively part of downtown but we didn't need them. Valet took time to explain different self parking options along the street and nearby parking structures. However not many open spaces were available and we'd have to move the car for street cleaning early in the morning. We chose the convenience of the valet during a rainy day.

For the price, the lack of amenities was appalling. Hotel was decent and the people friendly and helpful, but the mattress was uncomfortable, there was little/no food beverage, and the age of the property was apparent.

Lovely art deco hotel near San Pedro Square. Service was excellent and staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was neat and clean. Hedley Club was beautiful and relaxing. However, the website indicated there was jazz music and a restaurant on site. Neither of these were available.

Stayed here for a work trip for 2 nights and 3 days. I did not have a car to park so I have no experience with parking. The staff were lovely and helpful. I always travel with a reusable water bottle and I was THRILLED that each floor has its own water dispenser and ice dispenser. It made staying hydrated super convenient. There is one main door entrance to the hotel and it seemed like it was always locked so I had to tap my room key to get into the lobby. There was almost always someone at the door ensuring hotel guests and visitors were entering the building. It felt like a strong security measure. That made me feel very safe as a solo traveler in a new city. The room had what appeared to be an instant espresso maker but l used it for hot water for my own instant coffee that I brought with me since l prefer to have coffee very early in the morning and not wait for my work to provide it. The room had a bar of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash stocked. The room also provided ear plugs but l actually had no issues with the outdoor noise at all. The room was the perfect temperature. The rooms are very beautifully decorated. The location is right next to restaurants.

Everything in the hotel is well maintained and clean. The location is great as it is close to all the lively action of Downtown San Jose. The hotel's staffs are friendly and helpful. I think this is my third time staying in this hotel and I've been pleased every time.

This venue has the appearances of a hotel but the services of a motel. There is no on-site food and beverage of any kind beyond a take-away coffee kiosk so you have to walk elsewhere. There's clearly security concerns (else why would hotel lobby doors be locked and card accessible all day as well as night?). The dry cleaning cut-off was an hour earlier than what was printed on the form. They give you earplugs in the room due to the street noise. There is no safe in the room. They have all the facilities but are clearly struggling as a business so keep the restaurant, bar etc all locked away. I asked for a meeting room for a place to work and the only answer was "talk to Sales" making me jump through hoops. With the exception of San Pedro Square, not much in the vicinity either. I would stay at any other nearby business-class hotel and the rest are cheaper too.

I know San Jose hotels are expensive seeing that it's easy to get customers, but it's not an excuse to just not care. The service was actually quite good - everyone was welcoming and I even got upgraded, which I must say gives me the chills, considering what I would have stayed in, had I not. The room was as clean as it could probably be, considering, however there were stains on both furniture and carpets. No on-site restaurant, so no possible breakfast - however, I would have probably not really been entirely certain that would have been a good idea, considering the rest of the hotel. The design is dated and just... Like something that's been just trudging along for decades. There are splashes of colour which somehow even adds a bit to the dreariness. It was an altogether sad experience.

they did a lot of work to capture the essence of a bygone era, the last 3 years have been hard on this property, with SJ not really returning to in office environments just yet. I have been staying here when I visit once a year for about 8 years and I do love the rooms they are clean and have a ambiance that you don't get anywhere else in this part of town. It's not the quietest it's not the fanciest but it's a great place and I hope they get some money to fix a few things around the place to make it beautiful once again.
