Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As of mid February 2024, this hotel was closed, undergoing significant reconstruction. Their website indicated completion by the summer of 2024, but I think that is unlikely. The location is great, across the street from the Lido Key Beach, and walking distance to St. Armand’s Circle, a very nice restaurant and resort shopping area.

This hotel just cancelled my reservation which is coming up in TWO WEEKS that I made 6 months ago !! They said they are undergoing "renovations". Now I just read the last review which was written in AUGUST that they ALREADY were undergoing renovations THEN. And they are notifying me JUST NOW ?? TWO WEEKS before arriving when they knew for 4 months ????? I have NEVER, in my 30 years of traveling, experienced this level of incompetence with a hotel. What a joke.

We booked the hotel about 3 weeks prior to the date of arrival. On arrival there was a sign at the front door saying (surprise) the hotel is closed for remodeling; go to another hotel up the street. Holiday Inn took our payment knowing it would be closed, did not inform us there was no room at the inn, did not refund our money, and shushed us to a less expensive hotel nearby.

We did have to close quickly. The Lido Beach Resort is one of the nicest in our area - we regret that you did not enjoy.

The price we paid for the room was fair for where we were located. We couldnt really enjoy the beach because it was so cold. But we liked the view. The beds were comfortable and we slept great. The bathroom wasnt the cleanest.. There was a smell of mildew in the bathroom and the tub was discolored and I didnt feel great taking a shower due to the staining.

Just an Old hotel, whit worn out furniture’s and facilities as the bathroom, definitely not worth the money’s, there was a lot of moist in the room, and it smelled, like the air conditioning didn’t work properly, in the hallway there was dehumidifiers and a nice klima, the result was to keep the door to the room open to get the humid out. I have been there four years ago whit no such problems. Ordered food at the pool, it took about an hour to get it, and ther was only 4 people in the bar. Not coming back again I spend my money on another hotel next time in the area.

Location of hotel was great, across the street from the beach. Hotel was very clean. Our room was clean and comfortable. It's time for them to renovate. Staff was nice. Paul at the front desk was very helpful and provided excellent customer service. I enjoyed my stay here and I would recommend this hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

First I want to say the staff was wonderful. Now for the stay. This hotel is owned by Ocean Properties. Unbeknownst to most guests the hotel is closing in 2 weeks for a major renovation to turn it into a luxury hotel. With that being said they are not purchasing anything as far as alcohol or food goes. They were giving the bottle if the barrel alcohol in drinks barely putting a sip in each. I watched the bartender make a drink with no alcohol to start and just put a little floater on top. I ordered 2 hamburgers that took 45 minutes to come with ice cold fries. We asked for hot fries. 30 minutes later we received one order of fries that were completely different than the other fries. When I asked why this is I was told It’s because they’re using only what they have and also was told the other order of fries fell on the floor. Never got them, nor did we get any kind of comp. Not because she didn’t want to because she couldn’t. Next what really irritated me was upon reviewing my bill at checkout we were charged a $25.00 a night destination fee. When I asked what this was I was told it was because we booked through booking.com and not directly through the hotel. Well I wasn’t able to book directly through hotel since they were having issues with their site. Oh and I forgot we had a whole day without Wi-Fi. Thank goodness my husband has his own internet to conduct his business. With everything I’ve stated, In short this treatment leads me to believe they DO NOT VALUE OR CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER. ONLY THE DOLLAR. Therefore I personally will never stay at a hotel owned by this group. But at least they do have a staff that takes hospitality seriously unlike the Hotel Group. It’s also part of the IHG rewards, Lido group. They also own Sand castle resorts.

We regret that you have been given some inaccurate information regarding pending renovations. Renovations are scheduled to begin in mid July. We continue to operate as we begin this process. Your service experience is unacceptable and not our norm in offerings. We do hope you will reconsider and see us again.

We went to this hotel because it was across the street from the beach, they provided beach towels and free cold water bottles and snacks. car parking was free and location is 8 minutes walk from Armand Circle shops and restaurants. However there were several reasons why I would probably not come back here again. The lobby, elevators and all the corridors smelled musky and there was no air conditioning, so felt very humid. In the corridors they were using fans that were blowing hot air??? Some floor fans were being used that are normally reserved for water leaks and trying to dry out carpet. The bathroom was really old and dated, the walls has rough patches just painted over, the bath tub was marked and chipped in 10+ places like heavy metal items were dropped. The caulking around bath and walls was pretty bad like a toddler had done it with thumbs. The shower was 5 foot high on wall, so being 6 ft I had to stoop down and pressure was poor. The AC unit in the room was set for 60F for over 6 hours and room still not getting cool, so was too warm in room overnight it did getting cooler. On a positive side to finish, the breakfast buffet was great, the service also very good and the view overlooking the ocean, on 7th floor, cost $20 per person. There was a $25 fee per day per room -see picture showing what this covered.

Located in a part of Florida known for its beautiful white sand gulf beaches, this 50+ year old hotel was last renovated in 2016 and is showing a bit of age. That said, it has a loyal following and there are folks who return year after year and would not stay anywhere else. Parking is available on site and included in the daily resort fee you pay. The hotel has a small to average size pool and you must cross the street to access the beach. There is a restaurant on the top floor that serves breakfast but we did not eat there so will not review it. The main floor and pool area share an indoor/outdoor bar and we ordered a couple of frozen drinks on day 1. The drinks were refreshing. During our stay, the pool was shut down for 2 full days for planned routine maintenance but we were not told about that until we checked in. So for pool use on days 2 and 3 we were shuttled to the Lido Resort just down the street. Not as convenient but the Lido Resort has 2 lovely pools and a “tiki” type restaurant. The pools there were quite nice so it worked out well and we didn’t mind terribly given the Lido Resort pool “upgrade” 👍. Our Premier 2 Queen Room with Gulf View was a decent size and had a small balcony with 2 chairs and a small table which was nice for sunset viewing. The beds were comfortable. There was an in room iron and ironing board, and a small refrigerator to hold wine, bottled water, etc. The bathroom is average at best. Ours had 2 shower curtains and should have had a retractable clothesline but our clothesline was missing. The hotel is not a spa and the complimentary bath products are a disappointment. A couple of small bars of soap, a small body wash, a small bottle of shampoo and conditioner so we suggest bringing your own products. There was a working blow dryer. An in room coffee maker and complimentary brewed coffee was available daily in the lobby. Bottled water was also available in the 2 lobby refrigerators 24/7. The front desk staff was friendly and housekeeping brought us extra hangers and a corkscrew upon request. A great thing about the hotel is that it is a 3 minute walk to St. Armand’s Circle where there are many (mostly upscale) shops and good restaurants serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, and cocktails. There is a complimentary shuttle from the hotel to St. Armand’s Circle if you prefer not to make the short walk, and a trolley that will take you into nearby downtown Sarasota. For the money, the hotel is a good value. Not a fancy hotel, but overall a property we would stay at again due to its location, beautiful beach, easy parking, comfy beds, and nice staff. This property worked well for our group.

We had the oceanfront room and it was amazing! The view was everything I was hoping for. I brought some family who have never been to the ocean so the view and the beach we so cool! The beds were super comfy! The room stayed cool in the very hot weather! The pool was nice and super clean. Free laundry services so we could dry our beach towels. We even ate at the buffet and although it wasn't anything special it was on the 7th floor and it was ok food for breakfast before we left. We requested extra blankets and a microwave and they were delivered quickly and everyone at all times seemed so customer service oriented. Even the bartender was hospitable! We really enjoyed our stay and will go back again!
