In October two friends, my wife and I took a driving three-week trip to Ireland and England. We stayed in a many places I had researched on Trip Advisor and all of them happily worked out really well. But the best place was not on TA yet and I want to fill that gap: Rathcoffey House. It's just South West of Maynooth about 15-20 miles from Dublin near the town of Clane. I don't know for sure but I think there's about 4 or 5 bedrooms. The ones we had were ensuite.
It hadn't opened "officially" at that time. We had it kind of by special arrangement, my cousin knew the owner, Aiden, and booked the four of us in for the one night we were in the neighborhood. If there had been more time we would have stayed much longer.
The house is a terrific Georgian house, wonderfully restored and sensitively modernized, set in the countryside with mostly grazing and farm land all around. It has an interesting history and Aiden told us a bit of it. Many of the furnishings...
