I will admit I arrived at the Glenesk with a sense of trepidation. I could find no mention of it on the Visit Scotland, AA or RAC websites so I thought it must have fallen below their required standards. I was travelling with my Mother & Uncle who had enjoyed staying there with their parents in the 1940s - would it live up to their fond memories?
My mother & I were in a twin room on the first floor. We were very pleased with the room: spacious with two chairs and a table + extra chair which enabled the three of us to assemble for a cup of tea or pre-dinner tipple. The bathroom was big with a bath and modern shower. My uncle was in a single room which was small and the shower fitment was very low down so he found it wasn't the easiest to use/get underneath! On our first evening we found the large dining room to be empty but a very helpful waitress suggested we might prefer to eat in the bar (same menu) which was cosier.
