We stayed here for one night en route from Udaipur to Jodhpur, and were very glad we did. It is an amazing place that deserves more visitors. As in Bhainsrorgarh Fort, we had a suite of rooms even though we'd booked just one room, and it was very comfortable. The buildings are a bit run-down, but the parts that are... More

We stayed for three nights en-route from Mt Abu to Deogargh and loved this atmospheric old castle - or is it a palace? Overlooking a small and friendly village, the building is a maze of staircases and landings leading to accessible but often unused sections of the castle. From the roof you can see the Aravalli mountain range and Kumbalgarh... More

We came from Ranakpur and stayed only 1 night enroute to Kumbalgarh. It is a wonderful old place and great to explore. Even though only a couple of rooms seem to be used you are allowed to wander freely and explore. The fact that 70% of the castle was in ruin added to the adventure but just a little bit... More

We came here with an Explore group and it was a wonderful experience. It felt very welcoming, and also had such a history. The dining room and terrace were lovely, particularly as the sun set. Our room was clean and quirky.

Unlike most guests who seem to spend no more than 1 or 2 nights at the hotel, our group of 6 based ourselves here for four nights. As a consequence, we were able to fully appreciate the Royal Castle's offerings of old worldly charm and the tranquility of the Rajasthan countryside while also using it as a base for trips... More

As in other posts, the palace is a bit old and would need refreshing, but it is still beautiful, and discovering it is like a step back in time. it's charming altogether, room are just huge, and there are many little places and corners where you can sit and enjoy the nature, the quiet, the chaï !! the staff is... Visiting Ghanerao is a step back in time - if Devi Garh can show you what millions of dollars can do to renovate a castle, Ghanerao will show you what happens when the owners lose everything they've had. It's a huge, rambling building with original paintings, art and furniture. The owner still lives there and we had the opportunity to... More

This is the place to immerse in history and forget the present time. The palace is very historic and partly crumbling and run down. Still very charming and with wonderful historical rooms. Furniture never restored, very romantic setting for good dinners. There is no real reception desk so it is sometimes difficult to get a hold of service staff. No... More

This is an incredibly picturesque hotel - a dilapidated palace with lovely carvings, hidden courtyards, terraces and lattice work. Our room had coloured glass windows, alcoves, paintings, pretty textiles. The welcome was very warm, with helpful service and tasty (Indian) food. The rooms were clean. The view of the stars at night from the rooftop was simply spectacular. The trade-off... More

The Castle has seen better days, but is still packed full of charm and nostalgia. We had three days there in a suite of rooms and had it not been for the unusually cold February nights, would have been a brilliant experience. The castle is in the middle of the town. There were tour parties there on two of our... More
