This was the most beautiful place we have ever stayed! Our room had a view over the valley, as do all the common areas, including the huge grassy terrace with a tree-shaded stone fountain. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the walking directions they provided for the deserted village of Umbrino were idiot-proof. The restaurant, although expensive, is... More

We spent two nights here based on Tripadvisor reviews. The abbey is delightful and the room was adequate. The heating wasnt turned on until 5pm. We were cold almost the whole time even though we used the spare blanket. The shower was incredibly small. The rooms are sparse which is in keeping with the abbey - however in spite of... More

Dear Guest, thank you for your kind review, which we appreciate a lot. It's a pleasure to know that you enjoyed the restaurant of the abbey and we apologize that you did not like our breakfast since we offer different kind of bread and fresh cakes every day. It's important for us to tell you that the ticket of the... More

More

The Abbey was a wonderful place to stay and we were very sorry we didn't have 2 nights there, partly because it was such a unique and delightful setting, with plenty of history, as well as comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast, and partly because it would have given us the chance to visit the waterfalls (Cascara dell Marmore) from... we had a good stay at the hotel and staff was friendly. it was very sunny and unfortunately there were no sunscreens in the garden, so we had to sit under the only available tree in the back of the garden. the views are really great and the rooms give a reel authentic feeling. the bathroom may have been bigger,... Staying in this hotel is an experience in time, spirit and feet. You can not imagine reading this review what it's like to wake up in your room and look out that tiny window overseeing a foggy mountains. You feel the peace and devotion of the monks that lived here for centuries in every brick. Back in time is also... More

This is not a hotel, this is a B&B without any services. If the weather is cold like in April, you will easily catch cold in its damp rooms, like we did. The heating system is totally out of date and the room was dirty - the carpets were full of sand and dust. BUT, in a way, we guarantee... More

This is the eighth-century abbey with a unique longobard carvings and frescoes, now a secluded hotel in the mountains of Umbria. We spent alone the whole night in the Abbey. Even the porter, asking not whether we need something, has leaved there, closing the monastery of the old key. The atmosphere in our "cell" of Abbot Faroaldo was so unusual that... More
