I have stayed in a lot of places around the world. One of the things you grow to appreciate is that “perfect” does not necessarily align with “best travel experience”. In fact, places that attempt to be “perfect” often are sterile and boring. Iwaso is not perfect, but is just an awesome place to stay. The first impression was positive... More

We had a wonderful experience here and quite possibly the best meal of our entire trip. The staff is incredibly attentive and very welcoming. Despite the fact that our attendant spoke little to no English we were able to communicate just fine and she was so nice. The room is quite comfortable and the view of the mountain was one... More

This was my second stay at a Ryokan while in Japan – the previous one was OK and I hadn’t really taken to the shared bath idea too much. The Iwaso in Miyajima was much more expensive and luckily it showed in almost every regard. A short walk along the front and past the Shrine, this hotel sits a little... More

Travelling by ourselves with a family of 5: 2 adults, 3 children, we came across this Ryokan. What a fantastic experience for a first time in a Ryokan! The kindness of the staff allows you to learn how to act and what to do. We had our dinner in a private room with the service of a dedicated lady. What... More

We stayed for one night, myself and my fiance who are in our 30's and my father who is 79. We all enjoyed the onsens very much, and the staff were absolutely lovely to us, really looking after my Dad by making his mattresses on the floor double thickness and making his bed up early so he could have a... One of the more traditional ryokan on the island. First thing at your arrival go to the hot water swimming pool, indoor and outdoor. Then japanese dinner and sleep. Back to the swimming pool and japanese breakfast. Service 5 stars . Do not miss the top of the island fort the brethtaking view

We stayed two nights at this beautiful inn. The experience is something I will always remember. The staff was absolutely the best, making sure our every need was met. We were treated like royalty. Our room was on the top floor corner #515, facing the sea, torii gate, and 5 level pagoda. Just breath-taking! The onsen here is wonderful! It... More

We stayed here only one night because of the cost of the room. However after been here we felt that you need to compare the fact that dinner and breakfast are included and they are also part of the grand experience of this ryokan. Dinner is very interesting, japanese breakfast does not look too different from a dinner but it... More

Iwaso is a great place to stay - its expensive but if you're going to stay on the island I think its worth the price tag. The location cant be beaten - its not far from the ferry with a free pick up service and is only a few minutes stroll from the Itsukushima shrine and the start of Mount... More

It is the best ryokan I stayed in japan. Really the room was big and clean, and it has an explendid view of the forest. The dinner was superb, lots of delicios dishes!!! The Western breakfast was also very good. Although it is expensive it definitely worth every coin.
