The best bit was right at the start. The woman on the check in desk was very helpful and friendly. The room was OK, clean and tidy, but the furniture was a bit tired - could have done with re-decorating as well. Down to the bar for a few sharpeners, and pleasantly surprised by the low prices. Bit lacking in... more

The hotel is basic. No leisure facilities, in fact, not much in the way of facilities except the bar. Seems to be tailored for the football fan. No Sky in the rooms, 5 tv channels only and all available on a 12" television from the 1990's. It is only £8 in a taxi from Old Trafford and shows all sports... more

Although the hotel was acceptable I had an extremely restless night as the bed had a plastic covering over it. It was under the actual bed sheet and made a horrible rustling noise with every movement on the bed. It was not only disturbing but seemed to imply that the cleanliness was not up to par. Of course this may... more

Had to stop over in Sale because of work, i rang 118-118 and manged to get through to the hotel and book in with minimul fuss. I had a fantastic meal in the restaurant that evening and read the newspaper after in the bar. The place seemed fairly busy with regular drinkers who were quite friendly. My room was in... more

Just booked last minute for one night at this hotel luckily. Rooms ok but very noisy with doors slamming late at night. Breakfast was the worst experience. Tables werent cleaned off when asked where do we sit were told just find a table and we will clean it eventually. Breakfast waitresses needed a course on customer service. All in All... more

After reading previous reviews, we were concerned about staying at this hotel. We were on a business trip, booking 8 rooms. Every room was very well appointed, clean and comfortable. Service was excellent. Bar was good for a drink. Booked a table for dinner in the restaurant for the 8 of us. Having travelled frequently on business, I have eaten... more

My family and I stayed for 2 nights back in oct, everything from the outside to the bedrooms were old fashioned and grubby. the toilet seat and the lid of the kettle were broken. I reported these problems but nothing was done. My parents were put in a twin room that left me to share a double with my 19... more

We found ourselves trying to find a hotel with car parking in Manchester at 24 hours notice, probably because it was a Saturday night, there was scarcely a bed to be had, so from very little to choose from we booked the Amblehurst. Our main problem was finding the hotel in the dark and rain as it had very poor... more

I knew from the moment i picked up the phone and called the Amblehurst it was going to be a good trip. The girl on reception was most helpful and polite and had a good knowledge of the surrounding area. The rate i was quoted for our stay was reasonable and booking the room was uncomplicated. I arrived at the... more

Stayed here the weekend of may 12th for the Man United -West Ham game and was appalled by the standard of the hotel. This is one of 3 hotels offered by a local travel agents (which I wont mention) Its supposedly a 3 star hotel yet Ive stayed in nicer bad and breakfasts. The hotel looks very very old and... more
