Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were warmly welcomed in Taishoro Ryokan. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They took good care and gave special attention. The room was very nicely furnished, spacious and very clean. We enjoyed using the hot bath in the evening and to come back to the room with our futon ready. The Ryokan is very well located, few minutes by walk from the train station and close to the main sightseeing spots. We liked the atmosphere of this little city and the magical ambiance of its path in the forest. I highly recommend.

I stayed in Taishoro only for 1 night, but it was the best experience during my whole stay in Japan. The ryokan and garden is beautiful. All the facilities included. Staff very nice. I got many things recommended and prepared. I will definitely come back! <3

Visiting Sakurai again, I had no doubt about which ryokan to choose, after my very nice stay here in April! I was cordially welcomed as an old friend by the owner Mr. Masahiro. I got the same spatious beautiful.room as during my first stay. This time I enjoyed the culinary delights too: both breakfast and dinner were succulent! Next time I'm around, I'll definitely come again to Taishoro!

This place is really nice, quiet, the food is good, and the people are very friendly. The ryokan is close to the train station, in a very beautiful region of Japan, so it is a very convenient place to stay when doing sightseeing in the region.

Ryokan Taishoro was an unforgettable setting for the last days of our honeymoon stay in Japan this past April (2017). Masahiro-san was kind and accommodating from the start. Professional through and through and understanding even when we were running late arriving to the inn. The rooms were of ample size, spacious compared to other Ryokan we stayed at on the same trip. The food was expertly prepared by our host. Masahiro-san was happy to educate us on the various dishes. The atmosphere felt very quiet and private even though it has two gardens, an upper floor and multiple rooms. Masahiro-san, was very nice and really helped us with any questions we had and told us about the area. The rooms were in pristine condition, immaculate tatami and screens with beautiful art throughout. The futons and buckwheat pillows were a personal favorite of mine, I have happily purchased two of the pillows for use at my home! Whenever I return to Japan, I will assuredly stay at Ryokan Taishoro!

Rooms are not very practical, noise insulation is so-so, common baths are quite small. Inner garden is nice but small and you don't really get to enjoy it. It's not *that* bad, but the standard doesn't feel up to the price range. English spoken. Cash only. also: lot of mosquitoes outside. (!?)

This family run Ryokan has been a highlight of our family trip to Japan. Masahiro our host welcomed us from the moment we arrived. The rooms are nice traditional Japanese style with tatami mats. The room and Ryokan were very relaxing and made us feel at home instantly. There is a beautiful garden in the middle. The meals have been unreal, amazing, fantastic experiences. Masahiro is a trained gourmet chef. Both dinners were completely different, both using local fresh ingredients. Each dinner included about a dozen completely different tiny dishes, with unique flavours, textures, and presentation. A cornucopia of fish, vegetables, herbs, meat, mushrooms... Each bite was a new delight that my brain was completely unprepared for and seemed to open up new senses. This is not your stereotypical Japanese food. This was a unique Japanese gourmet experience prepared with kindness from a highly skilled chef. We are so glad to have stayed here for two nights. Even our eight year old son loved his food. I highly recommend this Ryokan and you must stay for the meals.

I had a very good experience in Ryokan Taishoro. People there were very friendly and all the facilities were in perfect condition. Sakurai is a nice village with a beautiful temple that I enjoyed. It is at 30-45 minutes from Nara, so it is a good opportunity to know a less touristic place. I strongly recommend.

My room at Ryokan Taishoro was very spacious, pleasant and comfortable. I enjoyed looking at the lovely garden in the middle of the inn. The breakfasts were excellent--I wish I had planned to have dinner there too. The inn is close to Miwa station, so it's easy to go sightseeing, and there's a beautiful shrine to see nearby. The inn staff were very helpful.
