This is not a 5 star hotel - and thank God for that - an oasis after the chaos of Hanoi and Phom Phen. Super rooms round a most beautiful rural garden - and yes there are spiders and geckos - but this is Indochina and frankly they are charming and add to the character. Rich and his beautiful local... We stayed here for one night on our trip to Phnom Penh. The food and staff were all excellent. Would recommend this to everyone.

Good: location, price, bookings record, beds Poor: open roof tiles into room, numerous spiders and other bugs (geckos don't eat spiders), cob webs, many low-hanging cleanliness cherries left unpicked; staff lacking language skills and motivation; security (very little separation from the road in some rooms). Really poor: grotty looking floor tiles and bath tub lining.

This is a boutique hotel about 700m off the National Highway 6 adjacent to the river. Accomodation is villa style detached or semi detached in a garden setting. Very little traffic noise compared to hotels on the highway. Rooms are large with air conditioning, mini bar - but no coffee making in room. Our room at the rear had a... More

We enjoyed our time at Sambor Village - we stayed for two nights and took advantage of the extra day to visit the nearby pre-Angkorian temples. We chose Sambor Village as a stopover on the bus journey from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. It is about 2/3 of the way towards Siem Reap. The bus journeys were not so good.... More

Hi, Thanks for your review. I remember talking with you during your stay here, but wow was that back in August? Time is flying! Since your stay here we had severe flooding in October, we have expanded our menu, and the electricity company has transferred to a Vietnamese supply. They haven't reduced the price yet, but they have given us... More

Tucked into the Cambodian countryside is this little gem of a hotel. The rooms are set in small villas with individual terraces. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well-appointed. I enjoyed watching the geckoes on the terrace and there were one or two chatty geckoes in our room which I found charming. The hotel has a pool, which is a... More

Hi. Greetings from Sambor Village. Thank you for your kind review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. It's not so often that we have guests writing glowing reviews of our geckos. Guests seem to have a love or hate relationship with the geckos. We like them. They eat mosquitoes and other bugs, make cute little chirpy noises,... More

I enjoyed our two night stay here (family of four) in the Cambodian countryside. While certainly not five star, it is a pleasant and pretty place to relax. The gardens are lovely and the pool area is especially nice. The staff works hard to be helpful. The food is also good.

Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. The designer of the hotel was going for a rustic environment. A lot of the floor and roof tiles have been recycled from old pagodas, as have some of the wood and bathroom furniture. It is not to everyones taste, but I think it works well... More

I loved staying at the Sambor Village Hotel. Kampong Thom is a great town to visit of you want to see normal Cambodian life. The market is a normal Cambodian market, and it is great fun to use the free bikes from Sambor Village to cycle through the streets. I found the hotel to be a peaceful oasis away from... More

Thank you for your very kind review. I'm very happy to read that you consider our fresh spring rolls the best you ate in Cambodia and Vietnam. I have passed the compliment on to the kitchen staff. Sokoun is a very nice man, I am now recommending him as a good tuk tuk driver for our guests when he is... More

If you are looking for something a little different to the usual impersonal hotels then this is the place for you. Set in a quiet street the restaurant and bar staff are friendly and the administrative staff helpful - they booked transport and further accommodation for us and bargained to get us good prices. The pool was cleaned regularly and... More

Thanks for your review. It was lovely to have you staying with us for the week. We had another large group in staying with us for a few days just after you left. Imagine that, two groups from New Zealand and Australia staying with us for two weddings in two weeks. More

Little 2 rooms bungalows, in a tropical garden, nice pool and friendly staff (although very few speak english). The restaurant on the balcony is nice for breakfast, but we didn't dine there (a mistake, as the other restaurants in the city are of little value). Rooms are clean, by the local standards, and each has it's own little terrace. Free... More

Thanks for your review. I'm happy to hear that all of your needs were met. It is a shame that Kampong Thom does not offer better dining options outside of our hotel. When I first arrived here I visited many of the local restaurants in order to be able to make recommendations to guests who wish to go outside to... More
