Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Strange little hotel but it did the job for us during the 2015 Belgian Grand Prix. We prebooked and it did take some searching around for the owners to find our booking, but all went to plan and the room was fine, albeit a little dated. The bathroom was enormous. It's only a short walk from the bus stop and the centre of Malmedy. Make sure you take proof of your booking with you.

Reserved a room by trip advisor. On arrival found hotel to be locked with another family waiting outside with no clue when the owner would be back. I thought the place may have improved since the old reviews, but no. Was a busy Spa race track event weekend so I did not wait around but went searching for another hotel. Everybody I spoke to in Malmedy, including the tourist office (who were terrific), just shook their heads when I said the name 'Le Forge'. I think they were ashamed of it existing and the owner giving the town a bad reputation. Avoid like the plague.

Well, where to start!? The hotel was pretty clean and the lady who met us was very friendly, it fulfilled the required function of providing a (pretty comfy) bed for the night. However my single room was very small with nothing other than then basics on offer. The hotel itself doubled as a clothes shop and hang out for the local odd balls. Decoration can be described as "eclectic"! Stuffed animals, masks, puppets, scrunched up paper on the walls to add a spot of flare! Totally weird, but not too unpleasant

in the past under the ownership of emmy heck this was a great hotel....she has now died ...now under what could laughably called new management heating turned of in the coldest winter you have to eat a frugel continental breakfast in the ground floor bar area while sitting amongst tables full of clothes for sale 1 flask of coffee for 14 people the owner was more concerned with leaving our doors open thank god we were the only people there....never again will our group use this hotel ...be warned go somewhere else....dan butler 29th infantry division oh one more thing the owners were told of our arrival at 7.30 am but did not arrive to open the hotel until 10.30 am with no apology for keeping us waiting outside ....

after arriving we was given a room on the 1st floor although we had booked a studio room booked and confirmed, the room was very small and the housekeeping was not the best ie the towels didn't get changed every day and the vacuum cleaner didn't enter the room much, the shower was the best thing about the room. the wifi was very poor in the room ,but,if you sat on the landing you get a decent signal, the hotel is ok for a 2 night stay but i would struggle to stay here again for 10 nights, it is like a scene from the comedy show allo allo, the resturant/cafe' was like having your meal in a clothes shop the owners are a bit quirky but not bad people all in all i think it was an experience i will not try again

Just returned from a stay at Hotel La Forge as part of a biking group. We didn't make the booking, this was done by the leader of the biking group, so prior to the holiday took a look on Trip Advisor. We were not looking forward to the visit at all after reading the reviews!!! On arrival there was some confusion over the number of days booked. We had booked 4 days, but the owners thought we had booked 1! Eventually sorted it out! We did expect to make payment on departure - but had to make payment in full on arrival! Didn't expect much from the rooms - but had a pleasant surprise. The rooms we occupied were clean and bright. Bathrooms are all large with complimentary soap and shower gel. Bathroom also has a hairdryer. Plenty of sockets around the room for recharging the phones and helmets etc. We had also paid for breakfast each morning of our stay - told at check-in that breakfast was at 9am. Came down next morning to the bar at 9am and continental breakfast was indeed ready for us. Plenty for us all to eat, with refills of tea, coffee and juice. The bar is a little strange as it also seems to house a dress shop!! Does seem to be a little odd to eat food surrounded by clothing! On our final day we requested that breakfast be ready earlier at 8am - no problem! At 8am the next morning the breakfast was ready for us. During our stay the owners were friendly and helpful - no complaints. Bikes are parked in the owners garage to the rear of the hotel. Yes...the hotel and it's owners are a little quirky! For the price we paid, we were happy. We would stay at the hotel again if visiting Malmedy, for anyone planning a visit to Hotel Le Forge just keep an open mind and remember you have not paid for a 5 star hotel!

My room was large and clean and the bathroom was enormous. The owners were a bit quirky. They produced an excellent schnitzel with a poor salad - which was not very crispy...but it was OK for the first night after a long trip. No breakfast available before 10am which was not much use to me. I was reading in my room on Saturday lunchtime when the owner let herself in with her key which was a little odd. Other than that all was OK, full payment made on arrival, they did not have the correct number of days in their diary but fortunately they could offer me the additional day. Quirky place which is more of a dress shop than a hotel - the bar was empty except for two very quiet 'regulars'. Not sure I'd go there again as it was expensive and without the advertised facilities of food and drink.

We were booked for 1-4 Jul 2011 for the Bikers Classic at Spa. Arrived with confirmation from booking.com and email communications. The owner turned us away saying my daughter and I were too big for her beds, but my husband could stay. I went to the florist to have the police come to make a report should our credit card be charged even though we were refused rooms. the woman, alice, appeared to be under the influence. The woman at the florist called another hotel, Floreal Club Malmedy, and found us a room for 3, with breakfast. This hotel was great, we paid less with breakfast than the La forge. Thankfully the week-end was not totally ruined.

Upon arrival I paid by credit card, both of the owner couple were present as I paid. They seemed to have an argument about paying by card, I think the wife would had wanted payment in cash. At 11 in the evening my friend was sleeping and I was still awake as I heard someone opening the door with keys. The wife stormed in screaming that we have not paid and should leave in five minutes. She wanted cash, I think she was out of drinking money, she seemed to be drunk or in drugs. Thankfully I found the receipt from credit card payment, showed it to her and she left without saying anything. After that I blocked the door. She tried to throw other people out the same night as well. The hotel restaurant was not open at all and the husband didn't seem to bother about doings of his crazy wife. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!

Booked and stayed in this hotel as part of a 6 strong motorbike group on a 4 day trip to the nurburgring track , had to pay for the whole stay on arrival , secure parking was a garage with No lock on it !!! , Hotel bar / restaurant was shut most of the time , breakfast was never available , so had to eat in a bakers just up from the hotel. The town has lots of cafes and restaurants , so no problem there. Seems a funny setup at this hotel , as we wanted to spend money , but had to go elsewhere for food and drink ,. Would not recommend this hotel , as they see guests as a inconvenience .
