My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Mt Earsnlaw Motel in February. Found it to be quiet, clean and comfortable. It's a small place so little noise from other guests. Friendly owner and room well-euqipped. Glenorchy is a delightful community an hour's drive and a world away from Queenstown. Surrounded by magnificent scenery and at the end of... More

My wife and i stayed at the Mt Earnslaw Motel in April 2013 for 2 nights. We had no complaints with the room/facilities. Free parking, washing machine and dryer take $1 coins ($3 for washing machine and $4 for dryer, clothes horse available) No smoking inside units. Small table and chairs outside of units to use. Quiet, very clean, comfortable bed & a great kitchen. Walking distance to everything as Glenorchy is a very small place. The new board walk is fantastic. Great coffee places. Lovely base to explore the huge amount of walking tracks. We drove to the start of the Routeburn. We walked up to the Lake Harris saddle on the Routeburn track & back... More

Spent 1 night here before our hike on the Routeburn track. The drive to Glenorchy is 45 mins from Queenstown & very scenic. The room was spotlessly clean with a comfy bed, hot shower and kitchen facilities if you need them (knives, toaster, plates, pots etc etc). Glenorchy is a very small town/village so you may like to stock up some food... More

I loved this place. Quiet with a full kitchen and the woman who runs it (can't remember her name) was a great help with finding avalanche conditions for the Routeburn Track. It's an easy walk to the pubs/restaurants, the price is good, and the room and all the dishes were clean. Nice comfortable beds too, which I found isn't a... More

Not too impressed - met with a key in the door which didn't work, grubby furnishings, mucky cutlery, bathroom floor which hadn't been cleaned for a while (I know because I cleaned it myself!). Perhaps we just caught the owner on an off day but she wasn't interested in offering advice or guidance on the local area. Such a shame... More

The Mt Earnslaw Motel was clean and comfortable, the room was bigger than we expected and while the bedspreads may make it look a little dated the rooms weren't. Easy walking distance to the pub and cafe. The staff were very thoughtful, bringing us candles when Glenorchy lost power.

The Mt Earnslaw Motel, is located in the sleepy town of Glenorchy which proved to be a great kick off to start our tramping (Greenstone, Routeburne, ReesDart). Rooms were very adequate with kitchenette, Clean and very Quiet. Great place in nice town with a stroll to cafes and Pub, all the important things after tramping.

The Glenorchy area is one of New Zealand's gems being the launching place to experience the Dart River ("Lord of the Rings" set), Routeburn Track (one of the Great Walks), the Greenstone and Caples tracks and Rees River Valley. Paradise, a locality ten minutes away, is aptly named. Glenorchy in distance is only 40 minutes travel time but 50 years... More

Booking online is always fraught. What I was looking for was a comfortable place for a couple of days R&R between tramps. It needed to be central to bus connections, restaurants etc [I had no vehicle], quiet, and reasonably priced. This Motel is all of this and more. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and certainly belie the slightly... More
